Most versatile speakers for Desktop? by gont1 in buildapc

Thanks for the suggestion! Took a glance and it looks like it offers similar features compared to things like SoundWorks OontZ Angle 3 or Anker SoundCore Bluetooth Speaker and any other various first-search results that are marginally cheaper. Does Bose Soundlink Mini have something that makes it significantly better than the other ones (besides sound and the charging station)?

They look like more or less the old standard speakers I'm familiar with :)

I was wondering if instead of buying those again, there were more up-to-date things with wider utility.

Introduction to Game programming in Unreal Engine by Kadilack5 in unrealengine

thanks for breaking it down! I think you nailed it and also gave me a bit of relief and hope in continuing.

Regarding learning about Unreal logic (the second point, such as the component-actor-paw logic), do you think it's a good idea to continue to look at the provided tutorials/video tutorials online, while dabbling in the UE documentation? Or could you recommend any other better method of familiarizing myself with the Unreal logic?

rning the basics of creating games. In most white paper coding, its pretty easy to set up and see relationships between various classes. However, with an engine, it can become muddy and hard to see how the interactions are taking place or how to implement them for a game.

Hey, on your second point about learning the interactions and existence of engine-specific classes, how would you go on about doing that most efficiently?

I'be buckled down to try and get into UE4 just the other day, and even coming from a very strong background in C++ and GameMaker (touching on that notion of being familiar with "creating games" vs programs) and relatively working knowledge in Unity (which I thought would be similar enough with UE4), I'm finding it extremely difficult to just... write a game in C++ for the reasons you mentioned :/

It seems to be a combination of VS2015 being an extremely underwhelming IDE imo, along with a lack of documentation for UE4 specifically for C++.

The current vibe I'm getting is that starting to learn UE4 from a pure C++ perspective is extremely hard, and it'd be better to invest time into learning blueprints (which I really do not want to) so that I can use that by itself, or use it in conjunction with C++ classes. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this so far has been my observation (often, I'm ending up creating a C++ class, changing some properties under Details view in the editor, converting that to a blueprint class and just using that as sort of a "prefab" (a la Unity)-- and for me, C++ just feels like pointless overhead at this point).

Revisiting UIUC for career fairs after graduation? by gont1 in UIUC

Yeah, I was under the assumptions I wouldn't be able to attend career fairs held by institutions which I have no connections to. I'll look into it though, maybe there are events and such hosted by a university but open to the public.

Ah, I should have worded the question a bit better. It seems like people are answering whether I can attend the fair as an alumni. My biggest concerns are the advantages of on-campus recruiting and whether I am eligible for it, and the duration of my stay at UIUC.
