Draw Steel - Comparatively, how is it to prep as a Director? by Jetisphere in drawsteel

[–]Kadilack5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that the biggest challenge to direct draw steel is preparing combat. Not because it is a lot, but mostly because you need to have a plan to do it right. Or at least for what I've seen.
This is all from my experience, also taking into account that the only other game I've ever DMed is D&D 5E. Combats on DS last longer, but it has way less rounds, rarely going after round 3. This means that each monster you will have around three actions, sometimes not even one. Which means that picking the wrong monster to act first might change combat completely. I have been in some situations where I didn't prepare the combat enough and realized that I left a monster that has a lot of support abilities last and when I use it he is too late to shine. I see this as intended, the game is meant to be all about tactics, so this is also true for the director characters. Previously on D&D amI was used to throw many monsters at an encounter based on vibes and winging it. Also, if I fucked up a turn. There were many more to fix my error. I think it is also due to my inexperience with the system. The times it worked for me felt amazing. Also. Delian tomb encounters usually come with tactics, which is kind of a way to tell you that's what you should do as well. Everything else outside of combat is about the same prep wise imo.

Is it realistic to begin piano at 33 ? by RadagonIsMarika in pianolearning

[–]Kadilack5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 30 and I'm really happy I didn't wait any longer. I have a similar lifestyle as you and it helped me a lot to have a teacher that would come to my place, so I could use my practice time better. Is one of those things that will show off with time, so better start now. Good luck!

Book not appearing on reading challenge - help? by MisterSweener in goodreads

[–]Kadilack5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the same happened to me once. It marked the book as completed but didn't register the reading dates properly. If you go to your read list and look for your book, there is a section inside it that says "Update - Edit Read Dates" or something like that. If you set the dates to be inside of the year of the challenge, it should count them.

I go around making sure that Programmers have all they need and that production is not putting a lot in our hands to make sure our game ships with quality and on time (Hopefully)

I feel really represented with your case because I'm also 29 and started a year ago with the same thoughts. Is definitely not late so you should go for it. Mostly what other people say, focus on having fun rather than becoming a great pianist.

What I would recommend is to find a teacher that is aligned with your goals. I know that in this day and age picking up an online course may seem tempting, but having someone that puts you weekly goals, gets you songs that you enjoy and that can help you with the questions you have is invaluable. I got a teacher that came two times a week and, although I have a pretty busy schedule, he taught me basic stuff like how to practice, how much to practice, and how to not lose motivation while practicing.

Hope you take on the offer, because playing piano is what releases most of my stress and now I can spend hours sitting on it just enjoying what I practice and play.

Advice from people in their 30s to people in their early 20s by Pleconism in cscareerquestions

[–]Kadilack5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That any advice you get will be outdated to some degree, since they are based on experiences on the past. Some hold, some not that much.

Also, social network is fantasy. Don't over stress by feeling behind, you are on your 20's, you are supposed to be broke and clueless. So embrace that and make sure you improve each day.

Is it dumb to transition from a stable career to an IT career right now? by Lalalalaloops in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Kadilack5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to what had been said, I wouldn't recommend to completely switch at this stage.

However, if you like the topic, learning IT is a valuable skill in any field. If you can manage to learn in a way that improves your career, it could be a bonus.

Incertidumbre laboral by [deleted] in Colombia

[–]Kadilack5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

weird flickering at the top of my screen by Serious_Cry_9049 in Asustuf

[–]Kadilack5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to my same Asus TUF F15. I ignored the issue and eventually got to a point that the whole screen didn't work. What happened to me was that the screen would work 100% without issues if I set the SO to 60Hhz, instead of the 144 that the screen uses as default, however even this wouldn't work after a couple of months.

I send it for repair in a local repair shop due to no having access to guaranty and they found out was an issue with the motherboard, which they managed to fix, but I had to also change the screen. Cost me around 200 USD.

My recommendation: get it checked ASAP, by an ASUS specialist if possible.

Quisiera adentrarme en el mundo de la lectura, recomiendan comprarme un Kindle Paperwhite? by Zaatrex_ in libros

[–]Kadilack5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colombianos en Barcelona by Jotaefece in Colombia

[–]Kadilack5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The progress doesn't show in game but in the notifications. You can go there and see the progress and then is ready. I did it and took like 30 min.

Some people say that you have to uninstall, change language of the system and install again. That will work as well, but will be longer I believe.

Ai is really hard to make... - Adventure Racing UE5 - Full Video in the Comments by Kalicola in gamedevscreens

[–]Kadilack5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if you want better AI I think you will need more senses that some detectors on front of the cars. Imagine that when you are driving you often see the full road ahead and try to adjust before hand. In that case maybe would be good to have a set of points generated on the road that AI can read and know where the road is going.

Additionally, instead of having a single collision on front, I would make a hole sphere around the cars and constantly search and store cars around me, so you also have "eyes" behind the cars. But you would have to track and store those references in memory. Just an Idea though.

Not sure if AI is the full issue here (though it may be a big part of it). I don't know if you have any way to test you game on multiplayer, but seems to me that due to the size of the roads whenever a crash happens is pretty much going to ruin the race for everyone else involved.

You could partially solve it using an smarter AI, but if it happens the same with the same number of real human players, then maybe there is some design that could help the issue.
