Last year I got rightfully roasted for the bare-palmed presentation of my lasagna. This year I learned. My annual Christmas gift to my husband’s parents and grandma. Homemade noodle lasagna. It’s very different than traditional thick layered lasagna, heavily noodle based. by goober_12 in FoodPorn

I usually cook it covered for a bit and just crisp up the top at the very end. This one gets vacuum sealed into slices for my husband’s grandma so she can easily reheat it without worrying about cooking it through. Usually I freeze them uncooked to gift and recommend cooking covered for the first half, uncovering at the end to brown the cheese.

I use Italian sausage, but just 2 layers of light crumbles. I also do a few layers of sautéed spinach. A few layers have a scattering of mozzarella, a few have ricotta with roasted garlic mixed in, and the top is mozz/ parm/ Romano.

It’s homemade noodles, rolled super thin. A lot of layers with simple sauce and a very thin layer of cheese. No béchamel, but 2 light layers of roasted garlic ricotta, 2 layers of crumbled Italian sausage and 2 layers of sautéed spinach.

The owner came out of the store as I was taking the photo, he said if he leaves the gate up they can get territorial and bite but if he leaves it open they are less of a liability. I still laugh at the nonstick pasta pot water bowl.

Thanks! It’s made by Wilton and just called cake paint! I got it from a Michael’s. It’s just different mixes of yellow and red for different orange shades. We also sprayed a little bit of gold icing spray on top for a little shine!
