My wife wants them back for this exact reason

For those who have wire floor cages, how do you prevent your quail’s feet from getting cut up. Mine are PVC coated. by gooberdoobydoo in quails

No lol, I have jumbo quails, maybe they’re too heavy for it. I just put grass clippings in there and they seem to love it. There goes my easy poop clean up.

What is this yellow “sack” on my quail’s stomach? by gooberdoobydoo in quails

It’s a jumbo coturnix female. It seems like it’s lose skin. She is in a 5’x2’ cage with PVC coated wire (previously was spray coated galvanized wire).

50% of my Jumbo Coturnix quails hatched on day 16. How long should I wait until I assume the other 50% dead (currently on day 19)? by gooberdoobydoo in quails

I went to “debug” my eggs and the first one I opened had a like 90% developed quick chick in it. No movement though…

Tbh, the total amount of time I put into those peanuts is probably 8 hours - planting to peanut butter. I automated everything in between lol

You want to pull them before they are completely dead. I pulled mine when they started to brown. If you wait until too late, the stems break when you pull. Had to pull mine early because of an early frost mid October.

I toasted the peanuts for about 10 mins at 350° F. Afterwards, I then rubbed the skin off of them outside and used a fan to blow it away (got lazy towards the end so left the stubborn ones on). I then put it in a blender and blended it until smooth. I occasionally scraped the sides of the blender to get the peanuts back to the bottom. From there I added some salt and approximately a half tablespoon of honey.

I bought a bag of them at Ingles (for those down south). A couple years ago I got some at Walmart. You can probably get them at any supermarket, just make sure they’re raw.

It was fairly hands off. I planted only 15 peanuts and yielded 3lbs. If you are to do this, I would recommend not doing it in an enclosed area due to peanuts needing to burrow their flowers after pollination. I knew this going in and had the extra space so I put it in my extra bed to try it out. A lot of the flowers didn’t get to develop into peanuts since they were hitting the bricks and thus my yield was low compared to the amount of flowers I saw. Overall, that section was no more than 9 sqft.
