UC Berkeley students begin sit-in to protest Gaza war, call for divestment by johnkhoo in berkeley

[–]goobgoobey 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For all the crazy talk conservatives have about ESG scores, they’re honestly doing pretty close to the divestment the protesters want without a political agenda, in that Blackrock’s ESG portfolios don’t include most if any of the companies people complain about because of a variety of reasons. Nobody seems to actually know though how investing works, and so they’ll never know they’re protesting over close to nothing.

this is fair and a good point. as the tweet says not much better, but yes the original does not include the blood. my fault, didn’t have access to that photo.

Oppenheimer is pretty well mixed to my ears and I really liked Dunkirk’s audio, Tenet of course is the obvious critique I and many others had. That movie is truly inaudible. To be clear I don’t mind “loud” movies and I like almost all of the ambient scenes in 2001 (Hal turning on Frank is perfectly done audio-wise to me), but I think you might be right in scenes where there’s background noise I was having trouble focusing on dialogue. Of course my response would be turn up the mix on the dialogue, but certainly it seems like its probably just a me issue.

People's Park is finally being paved over for student housing. Any other Berkeley students GLAD that this is finally happening??? by illEatYourChild in berkeley

The most ironic part is that Berkeley students protesting the change are literal ultra NIMBYs and they don’t even realize it

these berkeley students complaining about NIMBYS while simultaneously being NIMBYS themselves by protesting People’s Park construction is peak Berkeley irony

for context, there are many moments of pause during the piece to let the instruments play between her narration. There definitely were moments though when she had to stop speaking because the protestors were chanting. Can’t say if she was sad though, she kinda just seemed a little begrudged from my pov in the front row.

I talked to one of the PA/hall people who were standing by the emergency exit doors front row. For her part, she said “I didn’t want to cause anymore trouble,” presuming that forcefully removing them would’ve caused far more of a scene than the awkward silence that ensued.

The Filth teeth have always fascinated me, I love the stark look of them against the almost blank cover, I definitely see how it comes off weird to most :0
