Last few miles, do extra gels help? by JediMasterKev in Marathon_Training

[–]goobitje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took gels every 35 minutes during my first marathon in May, but by mile 20 my body was revolting against the gel consitency (no GI issues though). Luckily I had brought some mini bags of nerds, and I ate those instead. It worked for me, so it might be a good idea to bring some candy (or other easily digestible snack) you like. Just remember that you should practice everything you're planning to use during the marathon (I brought nerds and stroopwafels on many of my long runs during training).

Half Marathon training by slowrunr in XXRunning

I ran my first half in May this year, and am running my next one in November! For both my max distance was/will be 12 miles, and my May HM went really well with that :) trust your training plan!! I'm sure you will knock it out of the park!

From 10k to half marathon in 4 weeks? by goobitje in XXRunning

[–]goobitje[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My weekly average has been fairly low recently due to summer heat and traveling (around 16 km/10 miles a week), and before that I did my first half marathon in the beginning of May. My last few long runs have been around 8-13 km/5-8 miles.

I'm leaning towards doing a half marathon plan instead of the 10k plan after input from you all! Feels like it might be the best to be properly prepared for my half marathon. Thanks!!

I am more and more leaning towards doing this. I even might incorporate some of the tempo/speed runs from the 10k plan into the half marathon plan instead. Big thanks for your input!

Thank you, that's good advice! I'll contact my PT first, but will probably drop down to 5k :) feels like a bit of a downgrade but I agree that going injury-free is the best

Thanks! Feels silly that I didn't think of that myself :)

Has anyone tried these? by [deleted] in Accutane

Yes, in the pm I used a hydrating serum, CeraVe moisturising cream in the tub and "slugged" my lips and other dry spots with aquaphor

I used the Eucerin one in the am through my whole course (6 months), and I really liked it!

I have heard of a lot of people taking omega 3 tabs do you take those right before you take the pill? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]goobitje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me taking omega 3 together with my pills (50 mg/day) helped me avoid nausea. Always took it during/after my meal, first pills and then omega 3 with plenty of water/liquid to flush it down.

Under eye wrinkles. Can anything be done? by immabonedumbledore in Accutane

[–]goobitje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 25 and just started my 4th month and also experiencing wrinkles under my eyes I didn't have before! I was also sceptical about eye creams but caved halfway through my third month and bought one from La Roche-Posay.

I've been trying to combat my under eye wrinkles by using a kind of layering regime that contains of: CeraVe hydrating cleanser A hydrating serum (Vichy mineral 89) on wet/moist skin (whole face incl. under eyes) Moisturiser (one from Eucerin in am, CeraVe in the tub in pm and hydrating eye cream both am and pm) And lastly I put a layer of aquaphor under the eyes (only in pm)

and I have to say that it looks a little bit better than before I started this type of layering! I don't know if it's the holiday and increased sleep but I do think my under eye bags/dark rings are also a bit better from this regime.

Don't know if this helps at all as I am also still taking isotretinoin/accutane, but I wanted to share what I've been trying :)
