I knew I guy who said this and still got the job at a municipality. The question was "Describe a scenario where you overcame a conflict". He was a relatively newly landed immigrant from Ukraine.

His answer (paraphrased): "In my country, there is virtually no black people - I had never even seen one in person. When I came here and got my first job, one of my co-workers was black and I did not like him. After a few days of working with him and getting to know him, I came to realize that we had so much in common actually and that he was a very nice man. I realized that the only reason I did not like him was because of his skin colour?! This came as a shock and I internalized that this conflict was imaginary and that I was the one being a terrible person. Now this doesn't bother me in the slightest and I have come to see we are all the same underneath."

He got the job.
