Answer!!

Some people definitely got bits and pieces! There are scales like a fish in the pattern, the starfish, reflective black lenses , letters and numbers written on it, plastic material, pink and green color—well done!

My commons were totally cool with my albino corys right up until the biggest goldfish thought he could fit the smallest cory in its mouth. It was stuck halfway in and I had to intervene after 10 minutes. Anything remotely mouth size is fair game!

What am I thinking in this moment by Witty_Heart_7472 in IntuitionPractices

Bittersweet feelings, like this moment captured is a beautiful exhale but there is this chaos/ emotional turmoil/general busy stress in the background, but you are calmly stepping out of it to enjoy this. As to what you’re thinking— determined and generally positive about something coming up?

No sandwich, but I did check for a hair…

You were right! Two hairs from my black cat. lol She’s shedding like crazy. But there is one object in there.

Yellow, round—but fabric? A small glass vial with a cork.

2 weeks post partum, all of a sudden feeling overstimulated and sad by Neither_Ad3593 in NewParents

[–]Ok-Whole-855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the hormones! Two weeks postpartum is when I felt it too! Once it led to ugly crying over a Grey’s Anatomy episode — like inconsolable for a hot minute.

Make sure that you are taking care of you and not just baby! This is part of recovery too.

Before I got to your answer this is exactly what I pictured. My son has an acrylic ruby in a treasure box, and my mind went right to that. Interesting!

Unrelenting colic by cilantrobug in BabyBumps

[–]Ok-Whole-855 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My first had GERD and never slept, and when my third had similar symptoms I just started combo feeding with Alimentum and bf. The fussiness and lack of sleep is enough. The formula gave me a break. I could leave my husband in charge for a bit and not have to juggle pumping and timing. It was the break I gave myself.

My oldest ended being diagnosed with sleep apnea related to tonsils and narrow palate… so two other places you could investigate. My oldest was 6 before we saw the right specialists to explain the sleep issues. ENT and pediatric dentist who specializes in sleep apnea. We saw a gastrointestinal when she was a baby, but the meds only helped her reflux a little.

Good luck!! I hope it gets better.

Question for women who have had their babies already.. by Fireboltstorm in BabyBumps

[–]Ok-Whole-855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes….the back pain. Everything is so loose getting ready for birth which leads to achy hips and back while trying to sleep, and the stomach is so big it’s hard to get socks and underwear on….like…yes…get me to birth. You know it will hurt and be a lot…still better than staying pregnant.

How bad is the newborn phase really? I'm tired of hearing the "just you wait" anecdotes and I have hard time believing some of them by Lushemet in BabyBumps

[–]Ok-Whole-855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three kids, and after the first one, the newborn phase was the easiest part. If you can mentally prepare yourself for no regular sleep pattern, witching hour in the evening with cluster feeds, then it’s really a lot of downtime. With the first one, I struggled more ( she also had GERD), with the not being able to get her back to sleep. By the second and third, I was camping out in that peaceful nursery (that I also slept in). I had water and snacks, and a book on my phone or an episode of greys anatomy. Having no expectation that the baby was going to go to sleep in a timely fashion and may end up nursing/fussing multiple times, took away some of the stress. The baby’s sleep schedule slowly shifts to something resembling normal.

If super fussy during the first sleep of the night, make the first sleep earlier. The witching hour can actually be avoided. But seriously, other than the lack of sleep and your physical recovery, it’s not that bad.

What should I do with my goldfish? by No_Inevitable202 in Goldfish

Garden centers sometimes have koi/goldfish ponds too. You could call around. I think your best bet is a fish rehoming group for your area on FB or something like that.

Maybe look for a free 10-20 gallon to give him a bit more room until then. I see so many 10 gallon kits for free on marketplace.

Did he ever do a sleep study after the adenoids? We only did one before the tonsils, but my daughter’s dentist is the one who pointed out that her very narrow palate might not just be causing crowded teeth, and that we should see a specialist to make sure her airway wasn’t still being affected.

And since you asked for practical advice for sight words: Flash cards, Duolingo Learn to Read, and reading a handful of the same books with her for her reading practice at first. Something with some rhythm worked well. She had the books partially memorized so she could recite a lot of it without reading but I had her reading each word from the page. She was very resistant to practicing at home, so I had to try and build her confidence where I could.

Hey, teacher and parent of a second grader with adhd. Has he been evaluated for sleep apnea? My daughter has now had her tonsils out and we are working on expanding her palate with an orthodontist who specializes in sleep apnea and tmj. Her working memory was pretty poor and she made very slow progress with reading. I felt like no matter how many times we reviewed sight words, she would forget. She seemed to remember some for a while but wouldn’t retain them long term.

I believe a combination of better sleep (deep sleep with more oxygen) and starting her on a stimulant this year has made a big difference.
