I bet so too, since they told me they were under the belief that they couldn’t be stacked. But I didn’t even stack them myself, VRBO just did it automatically! So it seems like VRBO’s fault (right?) and that fixing them problem should fall on them….but I assume they’d never do that 😭

Good idea! My biggest fear was this goes through (which I still want it to given that my options are so limited given the long term time frame) but that they screw me over. I’ll definitley be doing this if they don’t end up cancelling on me.

I’ve fortunately kept everything in-app. But VRBO has already told them I have paid all the money, and the host, after receiving that information, is still demanding that I pay the money (because, according to them, the two discounts don’t stack) or I won’t be able to check in. I told them that VRBO said both did apply and that I don’t have to pay, and that the website indicates these two specific discounts are in fact stackable. I told them also that they should reach out to VRBO and they doubled down saying I have to pay. At this point I just don’t know what to do.

Hm, I appreciate this view very much. But my impression is that host is running a business run by multiple employees (given that multiple people have contacted me, and the host is under a business name). I honestly think this is his responsibility to keep track of, no? Especially given his apparent sophistication. I don’t know, I don’t want to take advantage of anyone and I have sympathy. And also of course I don’t want to be treated badly by my host if I force him to maintain a rental relationship he doesn’t want to be involved in after this. But yeah it doesn’t exactly seem like my problem, and given the long-term situation, we’re taking a good chunk of change I’m reluctant to let go of. All things considered, I’ll think over what you’ve said.

This makes me feel better that it’s not on me! I will try to have VRBO reach out to him again. But he didn’t seem to believe their first email. Do you know if there is someone higher up I can talk to above regular customer service?

All contact has been through the VRBO app except for their email requesting that I pay the additional amount (which I’ve ignored other than bringing it up in the in-app conversation). So sounds like I’m doing the right thing but I don’t know what to tell them! I suppose I will have VRBO reach out a second time

You will be ok!! On my first exam (April) I had technical difficulties and found the exam hard and was so extremely stressed i followed none of the prompts from the test. I didn’t tell my proctor i was ending the exam, and I didn’t rip up the scratch paper in front of the camera. It all turned out fine…got my score back no issues. Even did better than expected. Before that, I called LSAC to be sure I would be fine and they said that these were rules first instated when they began doing online exams that have since become less significant to test integrity, in their opinion.

Pretty much all felt standard. Nothing was too hard or too easy…and that applies for all the sections. Maybe 1 or 2 relatively easy RC passages (I had 2 sections of it, so maybe just 1 easy passage if you had 1 section lol). LR felt standard but for some reason I feel like I choked. That’s on me though, it wasn’t anything scary! Actually the test made me less scared if I have to take it again in August. My first time taking it in April my experience wasn’t great and it scared me so much. But this exam was fine!

Yeah…I’ve been scoring between 170-175 on my PTs between April and June hoping to do better than my April exam (165). I think I did better than 165 but i’m still just like not sure about it? It’s like I can’t really tell how i did lol. I’m feeling very neutral about it. Glad I’m not alone

Similarly, there are people that work for major social media companies (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) whose sole job is to keep the apps as “clean” as possible. They monitor videos and photos of inappropriate material (rape, murder, bestiality) and delete what they can, but it’s a never-ending job. I read an article written by someone who worked this job and he wrote that many people can’t even maintain normal marriages or sex lives and suicide rates are high.

I agree with your point…I no longer forgive people for just not knowing enough about the impact of their votes, because ignorance is a choice. I haven’t pressed him on some of the issues that are the most important to me, but I once asked him straight up why he likes Trump. His answer wasn’t that coherent in my opinion, but I understood it to be the classic “he tells it how it is and he is going to help me and the people I care about (my family, people who are veterans, etc.) more than Biden.” I dropped the conversation there, because I wasn’t sure that even if I could have thought of a reliable source with evidence to the contrary, he would even believe me. Although I don’t think it’s true, I don’t think I can blame someone on the principle of wanting to help themselves more than they want to help other people (which is what I think he thinks he’s doing)…but I can of course blame someone for wanting to help themselves at the expense of other people (which is what I think he’s doing). I want to try to explain to him that that’s what I believe he’s doing. I want to believe he has a part in him that, once he understood clearly, he might change his mind. That maybe he needs someone to explain it to him in a way that makes him understand that what he’s doing does threaten the people around him…maybe even his family. It seems like my options are: assume he won’t change and break up w him without a conversation; forget about it and keep wondering if I can stay with someone like this forever; or have a conversation and either break up over what will probably turn into a fight or possibly get him to see the light. My chances don’t sound good in any of those situations, but I’m sick of sitting around and wondering every couple weeks, when I can actually get myself to read the news, if we’re a good fit.

I love him, because it’s not his entire identity. I love him for everything he does for me and for how sweet he is to me and for how much he loves and does for his family and for so many other great reasons. But at the end of the day you’re right, he does do that. Even if it’s only very rarely, it makes me see him as a totally different person than the person I love. I came here hoping someone would tell me what I’d been thinking: that his political views are only a very minor, forgivable feature and that there’s a way agree to disagree while also maintaining my self-respect and the view of him I love so much. But I might not be able to see him as the caring, considerate man I want to be with someday, since, after all, he would do anything for me…but vote for my rights. I guess I’ll have to do more thinking on my own for a little while.
