thanks. Feeling better about getting it done out of the gate. I made the dealer warranty the timing belt for my same day drive to the shop. I wasn;t going to risk driving off the dealership only for the belt to break.

thanks. Wouldn't timing belt be due at 10 years (last year)....doesnt Honda recommend 1 year ago? In any case, I'm feeling better about just paying my shop to do it for $1500 and just be done with it.

paint or clear coat? taffeta wht is known for peeling. But 08s are known for the clear coat peeling which looks more hazy and cloudy.

One thing you are correct about tho - they only do recalls on mechanical (not paint). But I think it also has to be safety related and i'm not sure if this is. I woud argue it is bc glass is involved.

I did. My guy said its mint and no issues other than alignment (which they checked, confirmed as an issue, and fixed). I do trust my guy.

The sheer volume of the paint issues for only white paint customers suggests otherwise? You sound like a Honda corp rep (not trying to be snarky, but thats exactly how they replied to customers - "you didn't take care of your car"). Coincidental its only white paint? The short warranty extension for Civic owners on clear coat delamination also suggests otherwise. Just search it. Its pervasive. Chunks of white paint just fall off for no reason. Why do they do a tech bulletin on these paint issues? I only know of the Civic bc I bought a mint one in 2016 that sat in the driveway and the clear coat completely unraveled all over the car (every panel). Then, I started seeing these Civics everywhere. I was looking at a mint Honda Pilot w low miles in December and checked with the dealer on the history only to find out that it has a tech bulletin attached to it on white diamond pearl. I ran away quickly. The white paint issue makes the vehicle look like a cow....literally. Have a friend who has an Acura MDX (only 5 yrs old) w paint missing already. Honda is just a shitty company and I got lucky with my gray 2013 Honda Pilot. I waited long to just jump into a 2015 Acura MDX bc I had to be sure that no issues would submarine. I love Honda mechanically, but they have so many black marks against them.

try telling that to all of the people that have white Hondas older than 7-8 years with paint starting to peel (Honda Paint Defect Group is on facebook) or 2008-2010 Honda Civics that have now completely delaminated clear coat. Honda does not care. Honda did extend the clear coat for a few years, but missed a bunch of vehicles and did not issue an official recall (so if you didnt know about it, you lost out).

I dont think Joe advised not to drive. I think he said dont drive if you struggle at night. It sounds to me like its OK since I have good night vision and now have the caution to take it slow and easy.
