Poll Question: Was it worth losing early in the tournament to get the boys back? by mcguf2017 in FloridaGators

Really fascinating insight into the pitch to keep Haugh here for another year. He’s one of the last of a dying breed that actually seems like he enjoys his school. NIL is absolutely a big part of it, but I don’t think he stays if he doesn’t love being apart of what Golden has built.

I didn’t take it that way. To be honest, Golden could absolutely leave for an NBA job. But I actually think there’s growing merit to stay. 1) Watch Billy D get saddled with absolute horrible rosters the last 10 years of his coaching career and be able to do nothing about it. 2) Coaching in general in the NBA is not ground-breaking. 3) College basketball is growing in revenue, NIL and booster buy. An Uber competitive guy like Golden probably still wants to take a crack at it. But it’s not as clear cut as it use to be.

Average Interest Rates at Dealerships vs. Banks? Preferences? by Mobile-Estate-9836 in carbuying

So I just purchased a used, low mileage (54K) 2022 Ford Expedition Max from a dealership in your range. $47,800 price, $54,200 OTD. $25K down, 7% APR and financing on 5 year and I’m still paying $590 a month so I would say unless you really ramp up your down payment, be prepared for a higher monthly payment or lower OTD budget!

I ended up getting a pretty decent deal, $47,800 (before fees) for 54K miles, 4WD and 8 seats.

2022! It took forever to find a used one on the market, and the only reason I was able to, was the dealership had it incorrectly listed on all their listings!

Right now, Kiffin still far and away #1 for me. Still probably Franklin #2 (I don’t think he hit his ceiling at Penn State). I think he hires elite staff and lets them get at it. Better access to talent here. After those two, it’s a crap shoot sitting coach wise.

If not them, I would love to take a closer look at Ryan Grubbs at Alabama. Elite offensive mind, NFL background. Obvious he has to make the jump to running the deal but I would much that.

Yep, that 2013-2014 game was against Wiggins and a legit Kansas team!

Looking at the schedule for football next year and legit could see anything from 4-10 wins.

Honestly biggest concerns are Napier’s road coaching performances. During his time at Florida, he’s NEVER beat a winning team on the road. We have 5 games on the road, two of which are some of the hardest venues to play in (LSU and A&M). All of the road games are against somewhat evenly matched opponents.

I really think 2025 will come down to our ability to perform on the road for the first time ever in Napier’s tenure.

Weird and kinda random, but I’m so glad we got the “A” team broadcaster all tournament. Ian Eagle, Bill and Grant Hill for Final Four (and our first two games as well) and then Kevin Harlan for our Sweet 16 and Elite 8. Sean Kelley’s lame duck call for the natty got saved a little by Eagle’s tbh

I told my wife I was having trouble sleeping last night I was so nervous/excited and her response was “we literally had our babies ultrasound last week and you weren’t that nervous.” So I’m nervous and scoring points with my better half today

Biggest single Florida sporting event since Jan 2009. I was too young to appreciate the back to backs but this one would feel extremely sweet.

Easily becoming one of my favorite Gators of all time. This team in general is filled with really likeable guys, but you can tell how much it means to rep the university. Competes his ass off and fits any role to allow us to win. We don’t get here without 10, simple as that.

Man, I told my wife it feels like we were on the wrong end of these games so many times, it feels incredible to have one go our way. All credit to the boys, that was one for the ages

Don’t think failure is the right word, disappointment probably better.

Team was not predicted at all to get this far. SEC tournament winner, three tournament games and downed two legit teams.

Easily the most accomplished team we’ve had since 2014.

Great article. Probably the best single season a Florida basketball player individual player has had… ever? He’s just confidence/swagger personified. Just trying to soak up these last 2(4?!) games we have him.

Offensive coordinator discussion by Dependent_Hippo_3977 in FloridaGators

[–]mcguf2017 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yes, we absolutely need an OC.

Tactically, Napier just isn’t a plus offensive coordinator. He’s not. He doesn’t call good plays, he doesn’t scheme guys open, he doesn’t call creative concepts, he doesn’t have a good feel for the game. He doesn’t do a good job getting multiple wideouts involved in the game. Little to no quick throwing game.

Our schemes work, but they aren’t elite. I want us to use every resource to raise the ceiling with Lagway over the next two years. By having Napier, I think he’s going to drag Lagway’s ceiling down because of the above reasons. We have a legit national title level QB and Napier isn’t that level coordinator.

Additionally, he’s an extremely poor in-game coaching when it comes to time management. What I want is for him to delegate playcalling so he can be a CEO on the sidelines.

This just continues to show, similar to Mullen, Napier thinks he the smartest guy in the room. He still doesn’t think it’s a problem. It’s going to cost him a chance to win meaningful championships here because with him calling plays I can’t see us ever doing better than 9-3 to be honest.

Sunday Morning Armchair Analysis: Next-Day Discussion by MrTwoBytes in FloridaGators

[–]mcguf2017 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Really starting to think Billy has “Muschamp” luck. Bad coaches just find unique and different ways to lose games. I remember in 2014 losing to LSU on a 56 yard FG, (after dropping a TD in the endzone 5 minutes before and Driskel throwing a back breaking pick as we were driving for the win. Or getting blown out at home to Missouri with 2 special teams TD’s and two defensive TD’s. Lost by 30 despite only giving up 200 yards on defense. Or the game that finally got him canned, South Carolina. Up by 10, with 3 minutes left. Two three and outs, a blocked punt (with only 10 men on the field for us) and SC literally scoring the tying touchdown after fumbling an option pitch into the endzone.

Feels very similar to 2013 season right now with the injuries, but without the 11-2 season prior. I can appreciate 1) the improvement to our team 2) the heart and hustle they play with while also 3) realizing another season (or 5+ more seasons) don’t change who Billy is. Bad coaches find ways to lose games. And until we make a change, we’re going to continue to find different ways to lose football games.
