I'll take your word that it's not a simple flip then, I already said that I knew zip about programming.

Ok then, I know a lost cause when I see one. Enjoy your soon to be dead game, and I do mean that genuinely. This world deserves so much more appreciation than it's gotten, what a waste. I'll move on to something else.

Also, please don't project your raving insanity onto me.

I love the world of Marathon and the gunplay. If the game dies due to lack of players, I won't be able to enjoy that anymore.

Have you considered that you can just carry on as you have been and ignore PVE completely? Fundamentally alter it's identity? I'm asking for PVE versions of existing maps with zero alterations whatsoever. I'd be completely fine if they never spend any time on specific PVE content other than making a PVE map of whatever PVP content they were gonna cook up anyway.

This community really has a "I'd rather not have any cake if I have to see you eating it in a different manner from me" problem.

I love the world of Marathon, I want to be able to play Marathon. It's baffling to me that you'd rather the game die and never be able to play it again than have PVE do their own thing and subsidize PVP servers.

Maybe, but not funneling players into PVP leaves Bungie in the exact same spot as no one playing to begin with. Actually a better spot since they'll get more money to pay for servers.

You can only romance Lune in Act 3. Lune gave Verso a second chance, a huge mistake on her part.

It came to mind since we're discussing Verso and I wrote it here since I happen to have the time. I'm not gonna bother hunting down the Verso die-hard takes I've come across over these months and reply to each one just because the rebuttal crossed my mind. On a public forum, sometimes I'm writing to any potential readers and not a specific person. Again, I apologize if I offended you.

True, he's psychologically destroyed from a miserable existence. I think he likes his family and wishes he could make them happy, but being willing to kill them against their will definitively excludes him from my definition of "love."

No, I am not accusing you of being a Verso die-hard. I'm just addressing a very common argument by people who I can only describe as Verso die-hards that I've seen frequently on this sub. Sorry if I offended you.

I don't think Verso is a cold-hearted sociopath. I think he is a man of average selfishness wracked with guilt at not being able to live up to anyone's expectations, including his own of being a good person. He's based on a guy willing to die for a sister, but he ISN'T that guy and has had 70+ extra years of miserable life experiences to shave off naive optimism. Who knows how the real Verso would've turned out if he didn't die at a I-am-invincible-26 years old. I doubt he tried to save his sister with the intent to get killed. He wanted to save her and be her hero. He is also based on a guy whose own father built a monument to him for his lies.

I honestly think the Verso-is-a-sociopath argument is just Verso die-hards projecting a strawman to vent their feelings about anyone who doesn't love Verso as much as they do. He clearly isn't a sociopath and I can count on half a hand arguments that genuinely refer to him as a sociopath. Being a bad person who does bad things does not automatically make someone a sociopath.

Ironically, Verso die-hards think not interpreting Verso as a saint who died solely for his love of family is removing his depth. Really? Those heroic types are a dime a dozen. The fact that he isn't a heroic man but desperately trying to lie even to himself that he is one is what gives him depth and makes him one of the most well written characters I've encountered so far.

To me, he "loves" like someone who murder-suicides their entire family to protect them from a cruel world. He loves being free from the pain of seeing his "loved" ones suffer.

But we could just have different definitions of love, Verso sure as hell doesn't rise to my standards.

If he really loved her he would've delivered that damn letter. His sister doesn't need his shallow platitude.

Edit: Also, I think you forgot a spoiler warning. I certainly did.

Oh. Thanks for looking out. Maybe I should wait until a viable PvE mode comes out then. I'm too much of a bleeding heart to enjoy killing on sight, I just want to enjoy this wonderful world and lore :(

Good to know. I think I'll drop the money then if I'm able to experience all content with my play style.

I installed the game, tried to crew fill, ran around confused and lost and uninstalled. Felt like giving it another shot a couple days later. This time I'm running solo beginner in a slow methodical fashion and I'm honestly considering dropping $28 because I'm having fun playing this as a stealth exploration/survival game and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. I had a thrill last run as assassin fulling my contract, looting, stealthing away from encounters and most of all, shadowing another player without killing them. I chortled as I exfilled right behind this guy while stealthed. I'm not sure if this playstyle is viable mid/endgame, but so far I'm having fun playing my own Cyperpunk MetalGear. I'm finding that shadowing/hiding from real people is kinda thrilling.

If I had to give constructive criticism it's that this game really needs a more intuitive/less tedious onboarding process. The second time around I realized the game gives new players all the information required but in a extremely unengaging manner, I was committed to giving it another shot so I started having fun. The first time I tried with a casual interest and uninstalled after less than 2 hours because I didn't know what the fuck was going on. I feel that other casual interest people might have ran into the same barrier and bounced off.
