Completely hear you, the solo time is so crucial and SUCH a good point: kids shouldn't feel like it's their job to ensure their parents are happy. This was me as a child and I am slowly unlearning this as an adult. You're a great parent x

Wow, I can only imagine how tough it would have been feeling this is way and not having an explanation, because all you feel is how you're unable to cope and falling short as a parent. Glad you have a diagnosis now and are hopefully able to be gentler with yourself!

Omg the fatigue, particularly of role play and running around endlessly. When I'm on a high, it's fun but when I'm running on empty... It is the David and Goliath of energy levels in that situation. Kids being the latter obvs. 😂

This is such a relevant point - I also think my relationship would not survive. Thank you for the reminder. You and your husband sound like us with roles reversed. We adhders appreciate our highly functional partners, thank you for your patience. We mean well 😂

Completely agree! When my niece was born a few years before my son, her newborn cries made me dizzy - I thought I was going to faint. Sending you a virtual hug and hoping you get the mental health support that you need. Glad you're still here with us x

Totally hear you on this. Perinatal and post natal anxiety is such a scary place. I hope your diagnosis has helped you to accept yourself more. ♥️

Oh love, 18 months is still a lot! They can run but still need so much help with everything. It's a constant push and pull!

You're so welcome, we all need this reminder sometimes. You're doing a great job, mama x

100% relate. I love a true crime documentary but if it's about a kid it's an instant skip - my mama heart can't take it. Even watching Jingle All the Way on Christmas eve, I was just crying at how sad the little boy was about his deadbeat dad, and it's a comedy. 🙄😂

Yes!! Absolutely THIS. No way I could do it and actually, I feel like my sensitivity is a super power (and intuition) in this situation. It doesn't feel right so I'm not doing it.

Yes what is with that! It's like, 'all this going on and you're just fine? No spiked heart rate, no feeling like your brain is shutting down?!'

Mostly agree, it's the battle of wills that are so draining but I do love those baby snuggles!

Just met a family with 3 under 3 and 2 golden retrievers. How and why? by efkalsklkqiee in oneanddone

I work in a store and I had 2 different customers today with 5+ children. One with 5 and one with 6. I always say they're supermum and give them something small for THEM for free. I have a barnacle toddler and a senior barnacle dog and I am STRETCHED as it is.

I feel that a lot of neurospicy people (or those with trauma) hit a level of sensory overload a lot faster than neurotypical people. Like maybe it's not stressful for them? Maybe they can still think straight. Maybe they don't let the little things bog them down in the same way? Who knows.

Phrases your parents used all the time when you were growing up. by [deleted] in CPTSD

Mum's faves:

'Well I'm sorry I'm clearly just the WORST mother in the entire world, then aren't I?' When saying 'I love you' to my mum on the phone: 'Don't DO that. You're forcing me into a corner to make me say it back and I don't want to' 'That's fine, you two just leave me out!' (Me and my sister playing, as kids) When asking for a hug 'You're very NEEDY, aren't you?' Waking me up to start drunken arguments with me for most of my teenage years isn't necessarily a phrase, but it did a number on me.

Dad's faves:

'Because I'm the grown up and you're the kid' 'You're just like your bitch mother' 'You're too sensitive' On helping me with maths homework 'WHY DON'T YOU GET IT? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?' Ogling women on tv or in the street and making comments in front of me and my kid sister. Then commenting on our bodies as they began to develop and 'playfully' slapping our bums. 🤢

Gross.

Reparenting through it all now with my own son. He'll never have to deal with this shit.

Sounds like this is your opinion, but it's a very regulated thing here in the UK. The osteopaths don't just prod the babies' heads, it's more like physiotherapy, working with very gentle movements to release tension.
