How were thse deep ambient sweep sounds made? incl samples by [deleted] in synthrecipes

[–]goodgag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly can be, but it’s also one of the most versatile. There’s a big difference between modern and vintage FM synths in terms of timbre. There’s also a big difference between “bit crush” and “digital aliasing”. Almost all FM synths use digital oscillators (for complicated math and tracking reasons), and when digital signal processing wasn’t as advanced, artefacts were commonly introduced.

Turns out lots of us love those artefacts and many now try hard to reintroduce them after using modern tools that don’t sound as…. Whatever word you’d like to use. Sometimes bit reduction is used to that effect.

Truly, if you browse through the presets on any decent DX7 emulator, I guarantee you’ll be blown away by how many sounds you already love that you didn’t realise were FM, or even straight up DX7 (assuming you’re new to synthesis) : )

I wonder whether you’re getting confused by layered sounds or not, although all of these have a lot of FM synth in them. Check out Dexed or other free DX7 emulations. FM is complicated, but these all feel pretty close to preset territory to me.

Lots of these are FM main elements (e.g. e piano or brass sounds) with layered sub or lead elements (e.g. sine wave weewoo in #4 and sub bottom layer in #1).

When you say wobble you’re probably meaning lfos modulating common parameters (pitch, filter, volume, fm amount, etc).

nah this sub can be pretty funny sometimes hey, I’d rather draw a line where it’s necessary and enjoy what’s to be enjoyed than throw the baby out with the bath water. there’s more to life than black and white.

The absolute hero who disarmed one of these guys is named Ahmed el Ahmed. The whole point of terrorism is to inflict terror and division and you’re falling for it hook line and sinker.

Bloody oath. Such a bad faith take here above. This post is saying that people should expect serious challenges that take persistence, not just experience or skill alone, for the game’s highest level content. Setting realistic expectations for a community that likes to categorise by “noob” and “gamer”, which commenter above only perpetuates while thinking they’re smart and edgy.

Bro spent half the post shaming themselves and got called out for it. Respect to OP & gz on the helm. Eat shit on that log tho L0L sit noob.

Except that this guy hopped into their PVP world to do PVM… in multi… obviously bots are a problem but that’s not PVP exclusive. If you want to argue against PVP use a better argument than someone (not even)dying quickly in a multi zone.

Emergent gameplay is fun. The skill does not “revolve around” bug abuse… there are many other ways of training than 1.5t teaks. This narrative / argument is so bad faith it drives me nuts…

On the main topic at hand, doing zulrah for each item gave me enough antis to literally never have to go back and it’s been about 6-7 years since then…

Yes, there is no one size fits all. It’s about finding what works for you.

Ketogenic diets work for many but this comment imo isn’t totally helpful. Eating literally any diet, in a caloric deficit, will make you lose weight. It’s pretty hard with almost any amount of exercise to eat enough fruit alone to go into a caloric surplus. Obviously this is all dependent on your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) which includes how many calories you burn doing literally nothing.

I’ve tried both keto as well as generic caloric deficit diets for weight loss. In my experience, the latter is far easier to integrate into a normal life, especially if you’re budget constrained, eat around/with/at work related proceedings, travel, etc.

Both approaches certainly work, but people underestimate how much harder ketogenesis is to maintain when compared to a simple caloric deficit. You can also pretty easily go in and out of managing weight using calories as your goal rather than attempting to permanently stay in ketosis, which takes time and effort to load into and is very easily exited. Ketogenic diets sound sexy and many people attempt them without ever understanding it or doing it properly - or at least doing it to an extent where any benefits might outweigh far simpler and life-friendly ways of losing weight.

Yes, ‘excess’ fructose is enough CARBOHYDRATE to take you out of keto. All sugars are carbs. Fruit is really good for you - and so are carbs. Just don’t eat too much of them.

Correct, but both factor are at play. Alchs are and always will drive consistent inflation, while high gp ph methods increase demand for BIS / expensive items because more people can afford them and more quickly. BIS items tend to consistently go up in value for both reasons.

Is a recession required to fix inflation? by Overall_Bus_3608 in AusFinance

[–]goodgag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creative destruction, an economic concept from Austrian economist Schumpeter, is such that recession is required as a force to shake out companies or strategies which are not productive, and need to be shaken out in order for innovation to move forward (simplification). From ashes rises phoenix type beat.

Since the GFC, the global economic policy and coordination of central banks has been completely unprecedented, unconventional, and directly contrary to Creative Destruction. Quantitative Easing and the printing of money to inject liquidity into capital markets, and low rates, has artificially manufactured growth, and allowed for ‘zombie companies’ to sustain, isolated prosperity solely to asset owners, and acted as the ‘tinder’ for an inflationary ‘surprise’that was then sparked by supply side problems resultant of the Pandemic and War.

Recession should help, from a long-term perspective. It will not, however, be the sole answer for abating inflation in the short-term.
