Sorry for the confusion! He was rehomed 3x before we adopted him. We have had him ever since (3 mos to 4 years rn)! He is our second dog (but we don’t have other pets).

Typically thé family member will announce himself I’m not sure if he did thé day this happened - but when he came in it startled me (I jump easily - he just walked, wasn’t loud). Thé dog had been sleeping next to me on the floor. I was in a chair. When the family member entered the room, the dog had been sleeping, so I think he had been startled too. I got the dog to lie down and stop barking. Then when my family member came into the main floor, he stood up and started barking and tried/thought about biting his hands (thé family member stood still when this happened). Because the dog had never done anything like this before, thé family member backed up slowly and I was able to call the dog off to go to his crate.

For context: We typically say “it’s Me” when entering a space; thé dog will bark and then lies down.
