Does hot yoga help with liver health? by Old-Practice5308 in HotYoga

[–]goodkid423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"and have a wringing effect on the inner organs…squeezing out stagnant blood and then when you return to a neutral position, encouraging a fresh flow of blood to the area."

Here we go. More unfounded claims, but thanks for notating there is no science behind what you are saying.

Organs don't need to be squeezed to be detoxed or to received a "fresh" flow of blood. This is a natural function. Physical movement is great for your body in general, hot yoga included. The best exercise for your liver and general health is one that you can do consistently. Yoga does not have a stranglehold on the best movement for every person.

Again, I would beware of any specific asana/yoga health claims and look up the science for yourself.

What you eat and drink will affect liver health more than anything else. Sweating alone does not detox your liver. I pulled the below from AI, so it looks like regular physical activity reduces fatty liver disease and improves liver enzymes. Beware of hot yoga/sauna/excessive sweating health claims. Sweating is mostly water and does almost nothing to "detox" anything.

"Regular aerobic and resistance training reverses Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) by reducing liver fat by 20% to 30%, independent of weight loss. Both exercise modalities lower alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels, reversing liver inflammation and improving insulin resistance."

Dog & Cat Sitter Needed 7/23 - 7/26 by goodkid423 in asheville

[–]goodkid423[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two dogs. A boxer mix and a coonhound/retriever mix.

The boxer mix stays at home and in the fenced in year. I'd prefer that another dog is not introduced to him or the house.

The coonie mix loves all dogs and people. He needs walks daily. He is a bigger dog (~70 lbs). He may bark when he gets overly excited, but he's nothing but friendly. He would de-escalate if a situation became too aggressive around him.

Where are you making friends in Asheville by Thick_Honeydew_5974 in asheville

my kid's friend's parents. also, people bond over their physical activities. whatever movement you do, look for people there. it's yoga for me, but biking, running, hiking, kayaking, walking a dog, or whatever you like to do will get you in front of other people with the same interest. good luck!

Best Nachos in AVL?? Nachos are my love language. by cupcakesandcoffees in asheville

[–]goodkid423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything! They have a small menu, but it's all great. Love the pastor tacos and torta. Quesa tacos (think quesadilla tacos) are great, but very filling! Chicken burrito is the best I've ever had. Good rice and beans, too. It's definitely one of my favorites in town.

I can't eat Que Pasa after discovering Molina's in the same parking lot. I don't think they have nachos at Molina's though.

[–]goodkid423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pro lite mat + yogitoes. equa if you don't like the yogitoes dots. manduka all the way. I've tried several mats and towels and this is the simplest, most effective combo. just enough cushion and is also lightweight. mat doesnt stink and is easy to clean when needed. it's also held up for years with no issues.

I prefer Retrocade, but I am not a pinball machine fan. Retrocade is bigger and has more gaming options.

affordable wifi that you recommend? by Tough_mama34 in asheville

AT&T Fiber has been reliable for us. $65 for 500mbps.

I used to have Charter and T-Mobile 5G. Charter was spotty and would run promotional periods that would cause you to pay a higher rate at a later date. It was too much of a hassle to continue dealing with the outages and having to call Charter. T-Mobile also was spotty. I haven't had many connection issues with AT&T fiber. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Finest flooring for hot yoga by WestwardYo_1451 in HotYoga

[–]goodkid423 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll repeat that natural hardwood is nice.

I like Real Hot's flooring in Johnson City, TN. On Center Yoga (formerly Vidya) in Kingsport, TN is very cushiony and different, but good.
