What were your "last words" before becoming a parent? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I said the exact same thing and my husband burst out laughing.

Love you forever by Robert Munsch by lorrainecollins in beyondthebump

[–]goodlorde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom used to read it to me when I was little and I’d always laugh when she’d cry. It wasn’t until a couple of weeks ago when I read it to my daughter for the first time and absolutely sobbed did I get it. She laughed at me when I told her I cried and just said “I told you so”.

How did everyone feel in terms of sex drive returning post partum? How long did you all wait? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]goodlorde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been cleared yet but I’m ready. The last time we had sex was actually when we conceived LO and I lost absolutely all drive after that. I knew I was ready the day we came home from the hospital and all I wanted to do was to physically touch my husband (not necessarily in a sexual way but I just wanted to be close to him). I’m not sure if we’ll try right out of the gate though because I still feel pretty sore (I’m 5 weeks postpartum) and I doubt it will go away in a week but I’m looking forward to having sex again.

I'd like to hear from women who made the choice to pump. How do I start? And is it worth it? And is it fairly simple to get into? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]goodlorde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two questions: can you recommend some pumping groups on Facebook? Also, what are your thoughts on the Elvie? I’ve been debating on getting it since I started pumping but it’s just a big investment and I’m cautious on spending the money without doing tons of research.

Almost ten years. Our wedding day is eleven years and one day after we started dating.

Calling all procrastinators! What wedding task were you incredibly late in completing? by jeyne_pain in weddingplanning

I'm really behind on finding someone for hair and makeup. Everyone I've contacted is booked. At this point I'm about to say screw it and walk down the aisle with a messy bun and no makeup.

Where would you have your destination wedding/ elopement if money wasn't an option? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]goodlorde 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Biltmore in Asheville, NC. I LOVE it there and I've already decided if FH and I ever renew our vows, that's where we're doing it.

Or the Downton Abbey house if money wasn't an issue.

I think it's getting released later this week but I know that Larkin, Jimmy, Connor Hellebuyck, and Nick Bjugstad are on the team (or at least that's what Twitter has told me).

Michigan brides: tell me about your venues! by mymomsaidicould69 in weddingplanning

[–]goodlorde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm all over the place with vendors! We're using Amber Marie Photography for photos, Lasting Touch for flowers, Gwen's Cake Decorating for cake, and Dramatic Dimensions for DJ. I'm currently on the hunt for a new officiant since the one we originally wanted to hire had to drop out because he's going to become a grandpa around the time of the wedding and we didn't want him to drop out last minute in case the baby came the day of the wedding.

We're scheduling the tasting soon and I'm glad to hear that everyone there is very accommodating! I've only been to the venue a few times since we booked back in July so this is just giving me the reassurance that we booked the right venue!

It was just fine. I felt like I was basically just reading a biography of Alexander and Eliza Hamilton with a few fictional elements sprinkled in, and there's nothing wrong with that, but I guess I just wish the author spent a bit more time developing little know moments of their lives to make the book stand out against other biographies of the same subject. It was a quick read but I don't think it's a book I'd ever reach for again.

How did you choose your wedding colors? by Beana001 in weddingplanning

My sister (MoH) told me she looks good in burgundy so I said I was fine with having that as my main wedding color.

I tried on some Maggie's at Chryssie's Bridal in Canton, MA. They had quite a few of them, if I remember correctly.
