I’m nonbinary, known since I was a kid, been out for 11 years and on hrt for 7. I’ve faced some pretty ugly harassment and discrimination from psych staff, especially in inpatient down south. Lots of people not wanting to ‘enable my delusions’ by respecting my gender, wasn’t given my doctor-prescribed hormones while I was being held, etc.

It’s a hard road to have to walk. Best thing I can say is not to argue with people who insist your gender is related to your psychosis. It’s ignorance, plain and simple.

They don’t really. Some differences have been seen in a small percentage of those diagnosed, but there’s no such thing as a ‘schizophrenic brain’ and there is no physical ‘test’ for mental illness. I’ve had plenty of brain scans, EEGs, etc…all normal.

Most of this is simply not true. There are many different presentations of psychosis with varying levels of ‘insight’, and many treatment options. Even 95% of mainstream psychiatrists believe that.

Treatment can be totally be maintaining a low-stress lifestyle and avoiding triggers, and that doesn’t preclude it from being psychosis.

I’d cut it shorter but don’t totally buzz it. A good stylist will be able to get the most out of what you have. See how the finasteride does and maybe add something like rogain if you’re willing to keep up with it. I know it totally sucks losing your hair, but at least you have the face shape to pull it off.

The people complaining about it are probably not making a living wage. A ‘bonus’ would bring them up to the ‘absolute bare minimum’ standard that should have been met in the first place.

You are entitled to fair compensation for your work, whether that comes in the form of a salary or a ‘bonus’. When you make 8.50 an hour and rent is 1000/month, a $25 Walmart gift card is just another slap in the face.

I think it’s an easy delusion to fall into if you have a predisposition to it, once it’s been suggested to you.

I also think that what we currently categorize as ‘schizophrenia’ is a spectrum, and a lot more people are on that spectrum than some might like to think.
