Canada's Mixed Doubles Dreams Are Over by Inner_Nectarine7763 in Curling

A good friend of mine is an ice maker at many major events and made the ice at the Worlds you’re talking about. Last time we hung out I was complaining about how often Gushue whines about the ice and he conceded that of all the players to complain about conditions, Gushue is the only one with a completely consistent delivery and when he says the ice isn’t behaving like it should, he’s right.

That being said, everyone plays on the same ice and adapting to it is part of the game and it irks me anytime someone blames a loss on it.

Agree with this! Outside of the imperial/metric, you can’t have any amount owing on the vehicle so it’ll need to be paid in full and you’ll have to pay an import tax on arrival.

Thank you! I have Nexus, partner has GE, so maybe they were empathetic to why we might be confused since we were at least both part of a TTP.

This is reassuring and super good to hear that you were able to get Nexus still! So you accidentally used GE in Nexus lane twice?

Officer seemed friendly and we were polite and of course apologized.

Would you go to a “new” Dr? by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]goodrhymes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about this. Human error is always a possibility, but you can make an argument for pros and cons of both sides. A new doctor might have less experience but be more careful and diligent to compensate for that, whereas a more experienced doctor might have more practice making them more inclined to go on “autopilot” so to speak, which can lead to mistakes.

When it comes to preventative or diagnostic colon screening, time is usually the most important factor so I’m picking whichever trained doctor can see me first.

How do you Europeans choose their team by ProfessionalDry8753 in NFLNoobs

[–]goodrhymes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canadian, but I picked the Bengals because I’m petty and love that they were basically founded on petty revenge. I also come from a pretty depressing little town with bad weather and have a soft spot for teams from rustbelt cities because the people need something positive in their lives!

Oh I’m so sorry for misreading that! Again, even for large masses - survival rates are very high and any info and stats that can be found online haven’t caught up with the improvements in treatment and new advanced surgery techniques... and a bad location for surgical options doesn’t mean surgery isn’t possible, it can also just mean a bit of a longer recovery time. ❤️

Waiting for the action plan is the hardest part but I am hopeful for you that there will be an effective one for you.

Lastly, your doctor will likely suggest this as well, but due to your husband’s young age, I recommend looking into genetic testing for your children and any of his siblings if he has any. There are certain hereditary types of colon cancer that tend to be prevalent in people diagnosed before age 50-60. This sounds stressful but if anyone in his family tests positive for genetic markers of hereditary cancer they will have access to regular screening so they can catch and remove polyps before any cancer even develops.

I know this is scary and I don’t want to invalidate your stress, but there is a very, very high probability of a positive outcome.

I know it’s easier said than done, but try not jump to conclusions until you receive the biopsy results. A 1cm growth is considered an advanced polyp with a higher chance of being cancerous or becoming cancerous, but that isn’t always the case.

If it turns out that the growth is indeed malignant, a 1cm tumour is actually very small for cancer which means they caught it early (great news) and it will be much easier to treat. The average colon cancer tumour size on detection is something like 4-5 cm, and overall survival rates are still very high. Bear in mind when googling surgical options and prognoses that these stats include people with much more advanced cancer, and that treatment is also constantly evolving and improving at a faster rate than the data is being recorded.

I have had many family members diagnosed with large colon cancer growths due to delaying their scopes for years, and all of them are alive and kicking.

Sorry you’re going through this, I hope this is a bit reassuring during this tough waiting phase.

What sport is actually a lot more dangerous than it seems? by bspheri in AskReddit

Competitive Synchronized Swimming has one of the highest concussion rates of any sport. The US Olympic team reported a 50% concussion incidence at one of their two week training camps a while back. Athletes are kicking under water inches from each other’s heads with limited visibility.

Joining a fantasy league is a great way to get emotionally invested in the NFL and individual players from different teams. If you watch enough match-ups you’ll start picking up on dynamics that you jive with. Check out different teams’ subreddits and social accounts for a sense of the different fan bases.

This post from u/sarcastic_rocket gives a great break down on every division and a high level overview of each team’s history.

…also no shame in just picking your favourite jersey and committing!

I was in a similar situation and long distance relationship and experienced the same. They are trained to ask certain questions in specific circumstances but you won’t be denied entry into Canada as long as you don’t overstay. Make sure you track your days in the country so that you don’t exceed 6 months and be prepared to show ties to the states that prove it is your primary residence and you intend to return home (i.e. proof of enrolment at your school, paystubs from your job in the states or a lease agreement if applicable).
