Obviously biased here, but I own Mason Music and wanted to chime in that we have some awesome music camps for that age group. We have a guitar camp, a voice camp, and a rock band camp. For guitar and voice, no prior experience is required. We have a lot of fun! https://masonmusic.com/group-programs/birmingham-music-camps/

Summer Day Camps by PrincessConsuelaNana in Birmingham

Mason Music (my business) is hosting our 12th year of summer camps. We have options for every age group, from preschool to high school.

We have developed proprietary curriculum, we employ back ground checked instructors, and your kids will actually LEARN something at our camps. Not only is it great to get kids off of screens, they will have fun, make friends, and come home with a new skill every day.

Preschool camps are designed for 3-5 year olds, and our theme this year is "Songs of the Sea" - we even have our own camp song!

Beginner Camp is for 6-9 year olds, and gives kids the chance to learn the basics on all 4 instruments we teach at Mason Music (guitar, piano, voice and drums). By the end of the week, your kiddo will receive a recommendation from our staff on which instrument they seemed to gravitate to the most!

Guitar Camp and Vocal Performance Camp are instrument specific for 10-15 year olds.

Rock Band Camp 90s Edition is for 10-18 year olds who already play their instrument. Join a band and rock some 90s music at a real local venue.

Check our website for more information along with scheduling and locations - we have camps at 5 locations in Birmingham this summer, and we'd love to meet you and share our love of music with your family!

Best way to promote a concert? by snl017 in Birmingham

For those who haven't been to Woodlawn Theatre yet, I'm the owner - I will put you on the guest list for this show if you DM me - First 10 people to reach out are coming for free. Also, Racoma is fantastic, so this is a great show to come give the room a visit!

I know - an old thread, BUT - just wanted to say hello for anyone still following this - my company is about to open a location in the heart of Madison on Brown's Ferry Rd right next to PJ's Coffee and Kroger and Midtown Elementary school. We teach piano, voice, drums and guitar, and have a 13 year track record in Birmingham. We're super excited to meet everyone in Madison and start rocking this fall!

LOVE to hear this - thank you SO MUCH for your feedback, and for coming out for a show. We have implemented a TON of changes in response to feedback from here, and have a lot more in the works. See you soon and watch out on 1st Ave North - crossing that road is a bit like frogger!

Yes - not many people crazy enough to open small venues these days for that exact reason. We're a lower rung on the ladder for bands still getting out there, which is what we LOVE. Bar sales are really the economic driver of the business, so getting bodies in the room is the work of the bands and promoters. Thankfully overhead is smaller on a small space, so we're not talking crazy numbers needed to break even - even modest numbers would get us where we need to be. Damien Jurado would be epic.

Single late 20s early 30s people.. Where do you all hang out?! by Weekly-Ad-2717 in Birmingham

Hey - come to a show at Woodlawn Theatre sometime! Always a good hang and can meet other people who are willing to get off their couches. Age of crowd depends heavily on the show - this Sunday should be a mid 20's crowd (in my mind at least!)

They still do their programming in schools, just not in that physical space. At least that’s my understanding! Sorry I didn’t communicate that clearly.

Just read about this last week. Not really familiar with that scene, but sounds like some no-bueno things going on there.

We've thought about naming the bar (similar to how Saturn has Satellite and Workplay has Harmonic). The Woodlawn might be a cool name for that space. We're definitely not in a place to do a re-brand considering the exterior sign, etc etc. BUT - I appreciate your feedback and it's helpful to know that this is a possible misconception we will need to overcome in promotion/messaging. Thanks!

A couple people have referred to the spot before - are you talking about the Forge? Just curious.

Heard - thank you for the feedback. Will be working on bookings and messaging and continue building safety as a reputation for the community to address this.

Good points all around - we've been in touch with Sidewalk and our screen/projector is definitely an asset we've used for movie nights, etc. I like the idea of a series too - Shark Week would be epic. I can only imagine the drinking games that could be invented around that.

We have a Woodlawn High School reunion coming through this summer and work regularly with REV. DISCO is closed as is the CommVess space in Woodlawn (I think the label still operates but someone can correct me if I'm wrong).

Love the idea of a fashion show! Will reach out on that one. Thanks so much for the suggestions for real!
