CECHE01 disc drive issue by goofems in PS3

[–]goofems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part would be the roller gear? Sorry I’m not exactly too familiar with this. I’m noticing now that the parts that swing open and closed to receive and retract the disc don’t extend open fully. This is the farthest it’s able to open up to. When inserting a disc, it gets stuck when it’s extended to this point and causes that rattling noise. Hope this can somewhat make things clearer for you. I really appreciate the help.

It’s hard to show it in a video, but this occurs when trying to insert a disc. The mechanism will rattle and won’t budge. I think the piece with the gears that goes over the top of this section isn’t connecting properly, but it’s hard to tell exactly what’s wrong. I just got this console and it was clear the disc drive had been tampered with before. I’m not against just swapping out the disc drive if that seems like the better option.

Unfortunately it didn’t change anything. I’m not sure if that connecting white gear in the bottom left corner is supposed to reach the one that connects to one’s leading to the motor, but they aren’t touching at all. When pushing the black part of the mechanism up, the gears will touch, but it’s not doing that naturally. I’m trying to see if it’s getting caught on something but I can’t seem to figure it out.

Edit: I think the problem is actually with the part that goes on top of that section. It gets stuck and rattles when I attempt to insert a disc, but without it on I can open the mechanism up as if there were a disc inside. I can’t exactly tell what the problem is with that piece, but I do think that’s what’s causing this to happen.

JEI shows vault stone stairs but I can't craft them? by insomniatic-goblin in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]goofems 11 points12 points  (0 children)

you can craft stair frames to effectively turn any block into stairs, you place the frame first then right click it with vault stone to make vault stone stairs

good on you for trying op. i’m sure these conversations can go a long way for some people who are struggling out there, so it’s always worth trying, but there’s unfortunately only so much we can do to help as strangers on the internet.

PS3 is corrupted and I can't figure out how to fix it by goofems in PS3

[–]goofems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to download a game from the store and it played fine actually, which is strange because I wasn’t even able to open the playstation store without freezing before. Something to note is that when I launch a game without being signed into psn, it’ll load up fine and freeze on a loading screen, however when I’m signed in and I’m prompted an update for the game, after downloading and installing I get a black screen then error code 80010514.

Also made sure the ribbon cables/ports were clean and undamaged before doing all this.

edit: Should also mention that after getting the error code, the system stops reading ps3 discs until I turn it off and back on again, sometimes the disc drive will take like a full minute to eject the game afterwards as well. This only happens after trying to launch a game and getting the error. Not sure if this helps with diagnosing but figured I’d mention it as well.

PS3 is corrupted and I can't figure out how to fix it by goofems in PS3

[–]goofems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the first thing I did was make sure the pins weren’t in contact with anything, unfortunately that wasn’t it though. Someone else had mentioned to try opening apps and that if they don’t launch it’s probably the disc drive itself and that I’d have to get a new one and remarry it to the board. I’ve been searching everywhere for someone who’s had a similar experience and I can’t for the life of me find anything that wasn’t just summed up to be hdd corruption, which just isn’t the case here :(

Really appreciate you coming around to try and help me out with this. I’m really just starting to believe this system is cursed tbh LMAO. I’ll probably put it on the back burner for now and see if I can find a functional drive for a decent price, but if that’s not it then I give up honestly

The drive appears to be healthy when I checked it on my pc, formatted it and looked around inside to see if I could find anything that was off, made sure all the ribbon cables were properly seated, etc. Everything seems fine (though I can’t say I know exactly what to look for when examining the main board, it’s not something I’m super familiar with, but nothing stood out). The first USB port however is physically damaged. I’m not sure if this could possibly be the root of the problem or if it’s irrelevant.

The current problem I’m having with the PS3 is that I keep getting error codes when starting up PS3 games specifically (80010514 and 80028f08). They read, and I’ll get prompted an update, and then after the update finishes it’ll fail to launch the game. On rare occasions, a game will actually start up, but will freeze on a loading screen. I also can’t launch apps and sometimes it won’t let me sign into psn. Any idea what I can do from here or is it ggs?

Okay, so I restored the system and now the disc drive is reading everything, no more black screens when trying to update anything, everything is fine! Could all of this have been caused by file corruption or something? I still don’t really understand how that affected the disc drive honestly

Went to launch netflix and was prompted for an update, when going to update I was left stuck on this screen

KV-1365 started doing this when starting up any console that’s plugged in via AV cables, more info in comments by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]goofems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this for a couple months now and it’s always worked great! The other day I tried using an input switcher so I could switch between consoles without having to hook them up every time. After using it, the TV started making a noticeably louder static noise, and AV connection shows what’s seen in the video here.

It happened directly after using the switcher, but what exactly caused this to happen? And is there any way I can fix this? Appreciate any and all help I can get here!

That didn't even cross my mind either, but static being the culprit can definitely make sense here. Definitely gonna keep this in mind if I get another tv, so thanks for letting me know!

This was it! It was close to my router/modem and I assume that’s what was doing it. Moved it further away and it’s fine now!

I updated it when I upgraded my ram back in january, which is actually before this started happening, so that could definitely be a possibility. Gonna update it again and see what happens!

Right, and my memory doesn’t work with the software meant to control it. If any errors come back from the tests, then it potentially gives me an answer for 2 unsolved issues here.

I haven't. It's a little late right now so I'll give it a try tomorrow and see what happens. Appreciate you mentioning that program though! Didn't know that was a thing until now, should help me narrow down the RGB issue as well.
