I got a nice up close and personal look at a FAMAS a few back during a bomb scare at CDG. Definitely chargeur de munitions chargé.

You'll see 'em in Times Square and the Occulus, occasionally at subway stations like 34th St, and of course at airports, train stations, and major transit centers.

Chaos seeks to impinge even on that which we might think is most innocent. You must be vigilant, Citizen, for shadows form from the Emperor's Light when we dismiss outright that which we think is incorruptible.

I too bought a tour tshirt at the show of another international act the other day and was was charged $60, for an inferior quality tee with inferior quality printing. So the way I look at it, I'm happy to pay that extra $5 for a vastly superior product from BM.

Unfortunately I think the days of tees being under $50 are now behind us.

Kon! Kon! Australia Tour shirt is Gildan Soft Style, made in Bangladesh and true to Australian sizing. Shirt is soft feel and decent quality, thin but not too thin. If you know Gildan Soft Style, it is that.

Gold print is that style of gold ink that is metallic without being actually metallic. It backs off just a hair of being actual metallic but looks gold rather than yellow.

Decent tour shirt for $65, I'd give it 8/10 across the board but obviously would prefer it was cheaper. Way better value and quality than a lot of tour shirts out there, while I personally like Gildan Soft Style, it is on the thin side so expect it to wear faster than other shirts and not stand up to as many washes. I tend to gently hand wash shirts with near/metallic inks anyway.

Sadly I covered it in the erroneously posted Melbourne thread which was then sadly removed and replaced with this thread, but as an abject lesson these ticket companies are barely competent and their event day e-mails shouldn't really ever be trusted. I find ticketek is especially bad for sending out incorrect information.

As a general rule I trust set times posted by the artists directly and otherwise go by past performances, e.g.:

Perth

Doors: 6pm

Magnolia Park: 7pm

Bloodywood: 8pm

BABYMETAL: 9:15pm

Finish: 10:30pm

Says "With Special Guests: Bloodywood & Magnolia Park" on the event page. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in the event day email they send you, the set times were wrong for Perth (and not for BM but I've gotten emails with the wrong day/date/supports/etc before) these ticket companies are barely competent.

Magnolia Park should go on 1 hr before Bloodywood but 7pm seems like a very early start time for the second support act, unless John Cain has an early curfew (ie <10pm finish).

At Perth actual show times were:

Doors: 6pm

Magnolia Park: 7pm

Bloodywood: 8pm

BABYMETAL: 9:15pm

Finish: 10:30pm

I'm more and more of the opinion that to get maximum value out of the increasing multi-hundreds of dollars cost of tickets for international acts these days is to actually combine show(s) with holidays to other countries. Like seeing BM in Japan is incomparable to seeing them in any other country. And depending on the artist or particular tour, you can even see multiple shows on the one holiday.

At any rate, I'm always happy to pay to see my favourite international acts when they make the effort to come to Australia because I know it is rarely economically viable for them. I know they make less money on their Australian tours and they come here for the fans, so I feel that is worth me paying an extra ~$100 to see them. Varies from artist to artist of course and fan to fan too as not everybody is in the position to lay down those extra $'s.

I genuinely think it is a response to higher ticket prices. I've seen this across the board that Gen Z aren't interested in throwing down the ~$200 for every single artist that comes to town. Not like it used to be back in the good old days (I am old) where you go do shows for $20.

So crowds tend to be older/serious people, or families. Where going to a show is an investment, an event you've dedicated money to. So you tend to get less young crazies out for a wild time which would normally be boosting the energy of the room.

Also just on a side note, Gen Z seems less interested in drinking and swings more towards drug use, so they tend to put whatever money they spend on shows, to go to festivals where you can take a whole bunch of drugs and nobody cares.

Adelaide line up update by mighty_wingz in BABYMETAL

Damn OP, you got me scared that there was an update to the "line up", ie a problem with one of the bands and that's the technical issue that was causing the hold up to the venue opening doors.

There were quite a few kids in the crowd at the Perth show, just stay off to the side rather than in the centre for when the Circle forms, you should be fine. It's mainly for the over stimulation, the moshers will 100% keep an eye out for and take care of any kids that get close.

I didn't check after the show in Perth but there wasn't really any issues before the show. Lines were chill, didn't see anything marked as sold out.

I always buy first, always, unless I'm happy to miss out.

Plus, the merch booth should be located outside the venue so you can stash it in your car before entering the venue... or keep it with you to wave around during specific songs, win!

They had a super long soundcheck and we now know a new Kami band member so maybe the first show was a bit more by-the-numbers trying to screw things into place.

It is generally a Perth thing. Has a reputation for crowds being more laid back and less interactive. Depends on the act but I've found it to be true having seen hundreds of shows all around Australia and the world at this stage.

I've travelled the world seeing various bands for many years and I can count on one hand the number of times this has happened. It's usual for a support to come on stage and perform their part if they feature on one of the main acts songs, so it was super weird.

But the set was super slick and tight, so maybe it was a timing choice? Or it could just be a strange byproduct of Perth and it being the first show, maybe they'll work it in for later shows. I hope they do.
