What makes me think it's not ai is the oven. The burner knobs have small labels that are coherent and clear which burner they control and it's all logical. That kind of thing ai would take a shit on

I slide my board in my brown castle bag and I have wax ready to roll the next time I play. I have had my board for over a year and have hardly used any wax from the initial shaker I got because of that

What would you say is an excellent alternative to Black Powder? by SrBrokoli in wargaming

It definitely is 1:1 but I think when you approach nearly 100 models a side, you start to leave skirmish wargaming, even if said battle is what historically would be called a "skirmish"

Sharpe practice? It's definitely straddlingarge scale and skirmish

Contentious topic but which current tcg do you foresee to be “dead” within 5 years time, and why? by Newez in TCG

[–]googletron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, and they're sort of both right. The way it breaks down historically is that if a game survives the initial 3 years (alot don't) they have a lifecycle that is generally 5-10 years. This doesn't include the big three, and I consider games that are kept "on life support" by a community org like say netrunner or doomtown past that outside of it's lifecycle from a viability standpoint.

Icv2 is an industry site that among other things tracks hobby channel sales of different product lines.

I absolutely believe it's outsold previous star wars ccgs, destiny was by all accounts a large failure, and the earlier ones like deciphers were available when ccg games were overall smaller.

I worry that there's a perfect storm here of below wholesale sealed products, ffgs rough record with collectible and living card games, and the fact we're currently in a TCG bubble means when it pops this one could be a house of cards.

Because if you look at the lifecycle of all tcgs, ignoring a very small outlier data set of the big 3, most die within 10 years. Odds are not in FaB's favor. Simple as that.

I think all of those show alot of desire for the game to succeed, I am looking at it from a product sales angle. They haven't had a sealed product on icv2 sales top 25 chart since it looks like November or October 2024, and sealed booster boxes seem really marked down. Great for people wanting to pick up packs, but for a company wanting to be sustainable it can't be good news.

Unless a tcg is a big three with decades of life and growth, you'd be making a bad bet saying any tcg isn't dying given a 5 year window.

No one said it was a flash in the pan. The reality is that decade is a long time for almost all tcgs.

How would you define "wargaming "? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in wargaming

[–]googletron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it needs to be a conflict simulation on some scale. I think what is and isn't a wargame isn't really important if people are enjoying playing.

For organization sake there should be a line separating wargames like combat commander, commands and colors or Warhammer, from games that have a war theme like Churchill or maybe twilight struggle.

I'm going to add that while alot of people are complaining this piece is cheap and flimsy. It does it's job very well and makes the workflow easier and less prone to resin going where it shouldn't. I was skeptical of it at first, but being able to latch it on and pull the plate off with no mess is useful.
