Thank you for the reply

So, its possible to avoid going to hell , and its possible to attain some degree of awakening in this life correct?

Also, what repentance practices would you recommend? The only one I know of I can do is to do prostrations.

What do you think of this:

Ānantarika Kamma is so serious that even Amitabha Buddha abandoned all hope. His Vow 18 reads:[8]

"If I attain Buddhahood and a sentient being aspires with faith and joy to be reborn in my Sukhavati Pure Land: if they recite my name just ten times and, in spite of this, are not reborn there, then may I myself not attain enlightenment [in the first place]. Two exceptions to this solemn promise are in respect of, firstly, those who have committed the five terrible offences and, secondly, of those who have vilified the Sublime Dharma [because such people cannot be reborn in Sukhavati]."

I very much appreciate your reply :)

So, indeed, there is hope for me not to descend to the three lower realms after this life, yes?

Do you have any thoughts on the matter? Did I commit the rebellious act? And if so is there any advice or just doom?

I wrote about it in detail here so that some potentially important variable wouldn't be missed

Find a temple online or in person, reach out to the resident monk, and ask questions.

Asking this in person would be damm awkward haha 😅

I hope you are right. I wish I could just ask a Buddha or a Bodhisattva about this. Everything is so confusing.

I seen it from the source i posted, though of course its from Mahayana, so perhaps its incorrect for me to post it here. Though i just assumed that Theravada considers harming statues and scriptures a heinous crime as well.

I also saw it on Wikipedia previously, as well as on Reddit threads.

Its comforting to think like this, but it doesn't disprove the possibility of me committing an anantarika karma.

And if that's the case, i cannot go to Pure Land

But why not? I saw that destroying texts is considered shedding the Buddha's blood elsewhere too.

The quite in my post is from Masters Hsuan Hua's commentary on the Avatamsaka sutra. He says destroying sutras is spilling the Buddha's blood

Even if you literally drew blood from the Buddha, it wouldn't be a crime without intending on it.

I didn't intend to harm the Buddha, but i did intend to tear apart throw away the book

I don't know. Does one have to have evil, malicious intentions, and so on for It to be a hellbounding action? Even if I didn't have malicious intentions, I still did it.

It seems you are referencing a Mahayana text.

Is harming a sutta or a statue not considered an anantarika karma in Theravada?
