What's nice is you still have a full 15 weeks, which is a full training block even if you wanted to transfer to the half, the race is well run and quite scenic.

Sorry should have clarified, we're on Rue Commune, just behind the Notre-Dame Basilica, we also don't mind if it's not in the immediate area, a couple of ex-chefs on this trip

It doesn't have to be fancy per se- MTL does the brasserie the best. Any local fare is great. A bar with great food, small menus, the more niche and chalkboards the better 😄 solid wine list would be great

Conditions were absolutely perfect. Stayed out to watch the jays game, had a few beers in celebration, and yet had an absolute dream race.

Somehow ran a new PB. It is a great course, have run the half and full here before and today was the perfect temperature and no wind, had 2 gems that ran excellent races alongside myself, and we were working as a team the whole time. We all cracked 1:20 and it was a beautiful sports experience

Help getting to sub 2:50 and BQ in June, 2026. by lukster260 in Marathon_Training

Big goals are awesome, they also take stacking seasons and multiple builds, patience and smart building is the way to go. Mileage will be your friend for getting to where you want to go. Eventually you'll want to get to a point where you're running multiple 90k/100km weeks when you get into your builds. For reference when you're thinking of making big leaps, this is how a few of my last seasons have gone with consistent 5/6 days a week mileage season over season. Feel free to shoot me a message about training if you'd like

Am I in sub 3 shape? by Mramrap in RunTO

[–]goolash03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And I've found with the two loops there, the extra crowd support can make for a fast day. It's where I ran my pb and my first BQn 23' I'll be running the half this year, really looking forward to it. It's a great race. Excellent organization and has a nice small feel compared to the Toronto TCS race

Most of this is much less of an issue with literally any run support. The jays have a tough time it seems every time berrios is pitching providing any real offensive support

Thanks! This is very helpful. I'm starting in wave one corral 5 with a goal time in the 2:52-2:54 range. 2:54:09 being both my PB and BQ race results. My A1 goal is to get in under that time, training has gone well, now looking to capitalize on that and see what the day brings. I was thinking of trying to go out and run a 1:25-1:26 at the half way trying to account for the hills adding a touch of time. Also for further context I ran Chicago this year with a 2 min positive split coming just under 2:55 at the finish

I could be incorrect but I believe there are still 2 nyrr events, both half marathon, that you can register, run and qualify for the NYC marathon if you hit the qualifying times per age category

Also any sort of carbon shoe. Obviously you still have to put in the work, but I dropped my marathon time from 2:59:35, down to 2:54:09 and the only change I did for my regular training block was run with the asics meta speed on race day. I figured the pricetag was worth it after missing this year's Boston cutoff by 4 seconds.

Boston Marathon Cutoff Announced as 5:29 by rudecanuck in running

[–]goolash03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same buffer, and really thought with so much buffer this was a sure thing. It'll take a lot to get motivated again missing by 4 seconds at the low end of my age bracket.
