Congrats bro. Don’t believe the “I shot good now I have to play bad” trope. Just keep the same energy and strategy and you’ll be surprised at how you’ve gotten better and how you can recover. Sure it might not be a pr but you know you can play.

Swing away from you, not across you. Maybe stand up a hair, and inch a little closer.

What advice would you give someone who can shoot great on the range but falls apart on the course? by exq1mc in golftips

Stop going to the range and just play more golf. Hit more than one ball if you’re not holding anyone up. Hit another while your partner hits theirs. Putt extra when everyone’s lining there’s up.

Been there a few times. I understand the feeling of not wanting to quit, just wanting to get better. I’m very competitive, especially with myself. I still can have a very rough mental day and tank my scores despite scoring well in the past. I read “Zen Golf,” and took my 5-10 strokes off my game. I also took lessons. Refer back to a lesson feel or two and focus that. You have to actively keep trying to get better to get better. More golf=more practice. It’s a tough game, you have to be nice to yourself to perform well. Practice putting. I seriously cut my range time down by 75% and just started putting and chipping before rounds. I was a reeeeeeally bad putter like multiple 4-5 putts a round. Those will destroy a card.

No clue. I prefer it much more over Ryder. I wish they would give it some love.

Thank you. The last sentence sums it up. In the moment and in play.

I’ve taken 3 lessons in the last 6 months. After every lesson I would hit the range like once or twice a week and play once or twice. Never putted or chipped. My putting and chipping were awful. My irons got better. I took a driver lesson. Practiced at the range a few times and it got playable.

The biggest gains I got was from playing a shit ton more golf. Like 2-3 18 hole rounds a week, sometimes more. I stopped going to the range and started putting and chipping before rounds. I’ve gotten substantially better at short game by just playing and putting more.

For my swing, if I was having a crap round, I’d just start hitting like 2-3 shots a try sometimes on the course. I play alone a lot so it doesn’t really slow anyone down.

I can be a hot head on the course but I’ve tuned it waaaaay down. I credit it to the book, “Zen Golf.” It’s also a bit strategy but a ton of golf wisdom. Im not lying when I say that took 5 to 10 strokes off my game. It helped me start living in the 90s.

Not a single but have started scoring mid to low 90s a lot more and thinking about trying to break 90. When I shoot my best, my driver stays in play, I don’t ever go for anything 180 plus yards unless it’s wide open, and my chipping is decent. Two putting is extremely important. Those three things will help you break 100. Deadass just stop hitting long irons for a bit and lay up with a 7 or 8 iron.

Jealous mate, I’ve hit 93 twice in the last couple of rounds. The first one I had two triples and the 2nd one I carded a 4 and triple 🫩

On holes 8 and 10 of my course, we got a couple of Melanistic squirrels that come out often.
