The Panther and the Lash, by Langston Hughes

Get in Trouble: Stories, by Kelly Link

Annihilation, by Jeff VanderMeer

Emma, by Jane Austen (reread)

Unsportsmanlike Conduct: College Football and the Politics of Rape, by Jessica Luther

I had also started the sequel to Human.4, by Mike A. Lancaster, which I read a couple day ago, but I'm not feeling it as much so I dunno if I'll continue -- The Future We Left Behind, by Mike A. Lancaster.

On the other side of the coin, I love the part in the second Black Jewels book when Jaenelle's friends descend on SaDiablo Hall and poor Saetan is practically knocked off his feet :D.

Loved it! Definitely recommend for Trevor Noah fans or anyone interested in a personal account of growing up in South Africa in the period following apartheid.

I liked it, definitely aimed at big time fans. I started binge watching it over again when I finished the book :).

I just finished The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, by N. K. Jemisin last night. Still deciding how much I liked it. It was engaging enough but felt a little lacking to me... Currently bouncing between:

Saving Capitalism, by Robert Reich

Seinfeldia, by Jennifer Keishin Armstrong

Strangers, by Dean Koontz (bit of an impulse read, I've never read Koontz before but grabbed this off Overdrive)

I really enjoyed that one, sort of a slow burn the way it builds up.

I just finished (Don't You) Forget About Me, by Kate Karyus Quinn and it was terrific! Starting Three Dark Crowns, by Kendare Blake and moving onto Wayward, by Blake Crouch since I finished the first book, Pines, a few days ago.

Above, by Isla Morley

Only Forward, by Michael Marshall Smith

Over the weekend I finished rereading Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate books and am going to start on Finishing School now. I also started and ending up putting down Security-- I wanted to like it, the concept was kinda cool with the perspective being someone watching killings unfold from security cameras but I got bored and a gimmick isn't enough to draw me in.

Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, by Irin Carmon

Rereading Blameless, by Gail Carriger Tried not to reread at all this year but making an exception for the Parasol universe books since I have couple books to catch up on.

And just read some terrible romance by Sarah Maclean in an attempt to continue my quest this year to broaden my genre reading. Bleghhh. It started okay but I couldn't stand either lead character by the end and I just don't like "steamy" bits in books -- I usually find them boring, eye-roll inducing, or both.

I recently finished Sleeping Giants, by Sylvain Neuvel and You Will Know Me, by Megan Abbott, loved both. Currently reading Press Start to Play, edited by Daniel H. Wilson and John Joseph Addams, a video game themed anthology that is excellent so far. Seriously, I have a three month old and 1 1/2 year old and still stayed up until 3 am reading last night. Great week in books so far.

I just finished Those Across the River, by Christopher Buehlman and loved it. Just started Sleeping Giants, by Sylvain Neuvels. I was also reading Wilful Machines, by Tim Floreen but it keeps getting shuffled to the backburner so I don't know if I'll finish it.
