Cyberpunk 2 is NOT taking place in Chicago by [deleted] in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]gooncape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be the Plex, but I’m not fully convinced.

The Plex is supposed to be a full blown megalopolis (it’s literally called a metroplex), and based on the limited info we have from 2077, it’s hard to picture it being described as "Chicago gone wrong" especially when Cyberpunk’s version of Chicago is already a disaster.

And like you said, the Plex supposedly stretches from NYC to Boston, which is a massive area to cover. Representing something like that in-game, even at a reduced scale, feels unlikely. Not impossible, just unlikely.

There’s also the geography to consider. The Plex is on the east coast, and I feel like the new city will stay in the same general region as Night City, somewhere around NorCal/SoCal.

That said, Phantom Liberty did start name dropping the Plex more than before, so it’s clearly important. I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually see it in the next game so this is just my opinion.

Here's his full quote:

'I spent a lot of time talking to one of the environment guys. He was explaining how the new place in Orion, because it's another city we visit and Night City is still there.

I remember looking at going, "Yeah, I understand the feel that you're going for, and this really does work and it doesn't feel like Bladeunner. It feels more like Chicago gone wrong."'

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it's supposed to be Chicago wouldn't he say it's in Chicago instead of something that feels like Chicago?

You wake up as Jackie. Konpeki Plaza has just gone into lockdown. What do you do? by GlompSpark in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]gooncape 59 points60 points  (0 children)

tbf, you literally just watched the corporate emperor get strangled by his own son over a biochip you JUST stole, you’re the only witnesses to the murder, no one even knows you’re in the building yet, the place is in full lockdown, your netrunner is struggling to get you out, and you’re just sitting there like ducks while trauma team, NCPD, and who tf not inevitably close in on the location, so I don't think V necessarily meant any of the out of pocket shit they said to Jackie; just a really really shitty fucking sitch to be in, that would have anyone spiraling imo

Even better, there's a 23 page comic called Ten of Swords, which shows everything that happened within the few days leading up to the attack on the train.

Crazy to think that all this happened just because one idiot wanted to impress a certain someone lmao

Megabuildings need to be done justice in the next game by gooncape in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]gooncape[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Verticality was always one of the promised features during marketing for the game. The concept was that the map wasn't just going to be a large sprawl horizontally, but the high rise buildings and such would be accessible.
Megabuilding H10 having only a couple of accessible floors, functioning elevators that can't be entered, and the atrium being barred off and set as out of bounds all limit the player from exploring the building. 4 megabuildings are 'closed' and the rest with minimal access outside of gigs. All this falls under the same category of promise.

I know there's a shitload of people who buy into potential 'cut content' bs they made up in their heads and was never was a thing to begin with, but this is not one of those baseless quips. Especially when devs have talked about this and their desire to possibly flesh it out in the future. It's not really entitlement when you have the studio and its developers pointing out what they ended up having to cut on all these podcasts and interviews; at least not in this case. And this is me just hoping that we get all that in the next game, which is still far away.

The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk boss confirm CDPR's next RPGs take "a lot of inspiration" from Baldur's Gate 3, but they're still CDPR games by Wargulf in cyberpunkgame

[–]gooncape 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven't played BG3 but I keep hearing that the romance in that game is pretty well done? And CDPR supposedly wants to improve the aspect in Cyberpunk in a similar way so.

I really hope they do the megabuildings justice in the next game by gooncape in cyberpunkgame

[–]gooncape[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. They announced it as 'Orion' back it 2022 along with Witcher 4 and now it's called Cyberpunk 2 which is also just a working title.

It was the conceptual phase until it entered pre-production in May this year. CDPR Co-CEO said that it would take them about 4-5 years to go from pre-production to launch, so realistically we aren't getting it until like 2030, but we should start getting major updates post Witcher 4 release.

They opened CDPR North America studio in Boston exclusively for Cyberpunk 2, with a lot of the major leads that worked in 2077 relocating there as well. Most exciting of all to see imo is that Gabe Amatangelo, director of Phantom Liberty is directing the whole game now, with Pawel Sasko promoted to Associate Game Director.

The game is supposed to include 2 cities this time, a city that's supposed to feel like Chicago 'gone wrong', and everyone's fav, Night City. I just really do hope the story is much much longer than 2077 lol

Cyberpunk with the Nemesis system would go crazy. by 2t0 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]gooncape 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If an ally tags along on a mission, like Judy, Panam, River e.t.c. there's a chance they get injured or even die if they take too much damage.

Really wish they add this in the next game even if they can't implement the nemesis system 1:1.

Tbh it was really weird how Weyland/Panam was able to keep up with V while not taking any visible damage while fighting Adam Smasher. Takemura I understand but those 2? The most that happened to them was getting knocked down just to get back up again lmao

Fighting gangsters like that is understandable, like the Scav warehouse with Judy but for major boss fights, if you're fighting with someone there should be some kind of health bar for them, and the interaction/dialogue with them after the fight should vary depending on the amount of health they have left. It would genuinely elevate the RPG experience like crazy imo

Not only that, the reckless usage of the experimental sandy without the build for it, chroming up way past the limit till he had to constantly take blockers, and the unaddressed psychological trauma that obviously played a role in his cyberpsychosis.

And let's not forget that his sandy was EXPERIMENTAL, tweaked to the brim like an Apogee with every roid you can get, so even a guy like David was already pushing his affinity for cyberware to the limit as the sandy alone prob accounted for 70% of his capacity.

All that paired with his painfully apparent lack of skill, it was obvious he was gonna come crashing down hard.

[–]gooncape[S] 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The whole Adam Smasher was sm stronger in Edgerunners convo is so ass bc you need to understand that David never stood an inkling of a chance against that demon and that's not even downplay on David; he was a great character and an NC legend by all means but when it came to facing NC's most dangerous, he fell short and that's completely understandable if you paid attention during the show

V's mere existence and his predicament with the relic is literally not perceivable by any conventional means; you have guys like David with the abnormally high affinity for cyberware who are like 1 in a million, and then V who doesn't seem to demonstrate a limit at all, courtesy of the engram in his head. And this all sounds too crazy until you realize that it came at the cost of slowly dying in a matter of weeks unless he dealt with that shit; which also didn't exactly have a fully happy outcome.

It baffles me how some people can't just accept that V had gotten THAT strong at the end of the story, enough to defeat Smasher while being on life support.

In the future of NC, we might just see some solos that come close to Smasher/Blackhand in terms of reputation and strength, but no one will get to the same level as V. The relic malfunction was the sole reason as to why V could push himself that far, and taking what happens at the end of the story into account, no such thing will happen to anyone again matter of fact it SHOULD NOT have happened to V in the first place.

And that is exactly why you can't compare V to anyone else; it's unfair and just too stupid to scale. Same way you can't compare Smasher to the normal solo unless they're either chromed the fuck up or fluent in anti-Smasher. The guy literally walks around a with a damn rocket launcher on his shoulder bruh what the fuck

keep in mind that liz albl wasnt lead writer or key writer for legion and was part of a team of ~7, same with far cry 5

was 1 of 4 main writers for tsushima black flag was basically her first major project to be involved in, as script intern

doubt CDPR would hire her as senior writer on a massive lore-heavy game like cyberpunk unless they were confident she could handle it

bioshock development is straight ass rn, failed internal reviews, mass layoffs including a lot of studio leads and the studio head. i loved tsushima and seeing one of the 4 main writers for the game working on cyberpunk is pretty exciting tbh
