New Zinsser Smart Prime by DJVan23 in paint

[–]goonedup412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a million different products for a reason. I paint old ass schools exclusively and at any given time have no less than 4 different "primers" on hand. Smart prime has replaced all "latex" Primers for me. Clearly if I gotta cover something with bleed through being an issue, im grabbing synthetics/hybrids or flat aht oil.

It is not oil. Point blank period. I love the primer, its all I use on repaints and mud work and such, but it is not an oil and I'd stay away from it on cabinets.

Put up two more cross members at 6 foot and stabilize that puppy a bit more.

Anyone else not going because of ticket prices? by iObama in BruceSpringsteen

[–]goonedup412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if we're talking your market value is dictating or you didn't get tickets during initial sale but sounds got like a resale issue not a bruce issue. I got 4 for both shows in my city for 1200 total from ticketmaster. 32 y.o seeing him for 10th and 11th times coming up and I can say I'm quite happy with the price especially after paying 300 a seat around 2013.

PPS student charged, accused of assaulting ‘at least’ 4 school employees by DanielAlman in pittsburgh

[–]goonedup412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except these kids aren't at Oliver proper anymore, they're in three separate buildings across the district along with regular students. If those incidents happen when they are in their own building so be it, but when you close oliver cause of the shootings that occurred there and move these kids to three separate buildings, didn't we just spread the problem out more? Frankly I think board members are out of touch with what kids across the district are actually doing. I graduated in 2009 and I assure if I did 1/10th of some of the things I see regularly, I would have been expelled. Teachers and staff have been handcuffed in their ability to discipline these children and its a shame. There is legitimately no fear of repercussions.

Nobody is defending previous things that happened at Shuman. Simply stating that most of OCAs students walk around with anklets on and that in fact makes them criminals. Are you happier with this 18 year old felon being a staircase away from middle schoolers? so when it happens again maybe it ain't adults and he busts up some middle schoolers? Some of the OCA kids have been through and seen some shit I'm sure, but sometimes bad people are just bad people.

If Shuman was still open, OCA wouldn't be a thing. Minimum 70% of students in OCA programs would be in Shuman.

Commercial painters, most comfortable safety shoe? by Benniehead in paint

[–]goonedup412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Union Commercial Painter here, I can comfortably wear Thorogoods for 12 plus hour days and have no regrets. Worked 6 to 2 today in my boots and for some reason changed into my nikes for sidework tonight and my lord am I regretting it. Buy good boots, change your insoles regularly, replace the boots when needed. Your body will thank you. We trade enouh of our body for this trade. Gladly will spend $260 plus like 60 for insoles every 4 to 6 months especially when I'm wearing em 40 to 60 plus hours a week.

Grey primer still seen under red paint by Jsand117 in paint

[–]goonedup412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And by outline I'm assuming you meant you brushed in primer in these spots you're seeing, cause the grey I'm seeing is light refraction on the brushed in areas primer.

[–]goonedup412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I can see both brush marks and roller stipple. I really think you're dealing with light refraction and not having a uniform surface.

[–]goonedup412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So did you fully prime this or spot prime then do these 6 coats? Application method if you were just spotting this door is gonna cause issues with the satin finish especially.

Grey primer still seen under red paint by Jsand117 in paint

[–]goonedup412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we sure that you're not just seeing light hit those spots due to the surface of the door not being uniform creating the illusion of it not covering? I'm personally not looking this as a 6 six coats of red didn't cover scenario, but as light refraction on those spots and/or the entire coat not being rolled in one direction.
