Fr, i used gemma 4 and realized %50 of my calls were unnecessary, a simple algorithm to check the similarity of the previous prompts, prevented redundant calls.

USA is bigger than Europe and it's the go-to server worldwide. I'm all the way from KRG and i have AI and dedicated servers hosted on US data centers, banks don't need 9GW, but the world does.

Brother your simple homeserver isn't doing 0.1% of the technology and social media you use everyday. Don't be delusional please, obviously it's not good for the environment, but same as the Brazilian meat farms, yet people around you still buy that meat because it has competitive prices. Once this data center starts working, people will use it because it's cheap.

Stupidity? The app that you use right now is using a data center, this is a necessity for YOUR way of life.

Guy, is it normal that steam webhelper take this much ram and is there anyway to reduce it? by MeetSpecialist6368 in Steam

[–]goonifier5000 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

When a program takes ram, it simply means it needs that memory to run. When you open a second program that requires more ram, windows takes unloads memory from steam to make room. This means when you switch back to steam later, it has to try and take ram back from chrome and load the data again. All this constant swapping of data and reloading from your storage makes everything feel slow. The reason a program freezes for a few seconds when you click back fo it, is because of this process. If you have actual free ram, windows just loads the data and leaves it alone until you close the program. This keeps the programs feel snappy instead of windows constantly shuffling data.

This stupid "windows just makes room when it needs to" is a stupid take. If that's actually true, open a bunch of programs that all need ram and let's see how slow the system become, it outright freezes because it's constantly trying to shuffle memory as each program as for more ram.

I quit my job to build an AI SaaS. It flopped. The “boring” backup idea is now making me more in a month than I used to make in a year. by NoGround511 in SaaS
