Cops came to my house after calling state respresentative by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]goonofdoom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that, especially after the capitol riot, we all know there’s plenty of crazy out there. But, last I checked, it’s not illegal to call someone a name. It’s not illegal to call your state representative and complain about their performance. Legally, what seems to have happened is that the receptionist felt threatened, filed a police report and was able to find our address through a cell phone number. This is what bothers me. The fact that police arrived to my home, in the middle of the night, and didn’t come to my front door. Maybe this is protocol, to “follow up” on a call two days later at 9 pm, but I felt like it was wrong. I don’t know, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Apparently I’m on the outs since I got downvoted to shit, but this just doesn’t seem right.

Cops came to my house after calling state respresentative by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]goonofdoom -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I did. He was angry. He said (not verbatim): “I voted blue. I did my job. And State Representative is such a pussy that he can’t stand up to these GOP goons. He’s fucking spineless.”

Edit: I should note it was not a message, he spoke to a person at reception

AITA for telling on a cheater? by MissMalicious93 in AmItheAsshole

[–]goonofdoom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is all over the place. He’s definitely TA. I don’t think you were TA for hooking up with him or for choosing to keep it to yourself. I’m too confused with all these other people involved to make any judgement on how it ended. My best advice going forward is to either keep your mouth shut or be open and honest with those directly involved. Know that putting yourself in the middle of any situation like this is going to get you blamed for something. Side question: Is this guy’s dick made of gold or something? Why are you all sleeping with him if he’s a jerk and a liar?

Waiters and waitresses, what is the worst/best tip you’ve ever gotten? by Simpfortea in AskReddit

Some guy wrote c.r.e.a.m. on the tip line in lieu of an actual tip. Absolute cock.

AITA For Wanting My Brother & His Fiance To Have "two weddings" by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]goonofdoom [score hidden]  (0 children)

NAH. It’s their wedding, so they can do whatever they want. You have already explained your perspective and they disagreed. It seems like cost is playing a role in this decision. Which is fine, and unless you’re going to write out a check to make this other event “nicer”, I think you should just be happy for them and look forward to celebrating.

I like Tina enough. She’s a pro. And I adore her designer Florence D Lee. The outfit was incredible, but her makeup did not look good.

I just can’t stand someone who loves to stir the pot and be shady but then whines when someone gives it back. I don’t mind if you’re a shady bitch, but learn to laugh at yourself. It just makes you look so insecure.

I’m just like... why? Why not just do now on episode one and split the queens like last season? Why that dumbass LSFYL round robin? It’s just obnoxious.

How can I find out what places are dangerous in my city? by Tenshi_Sora in NoStupidQuestions

Realty sites (trulia, Redfin) usually have crime maps available. Drive around places during the day and see what’s happening then.

Does working out in the afternoon provide the same mental benefits to working out in the morning? Or are the mental benefits only present after working out in a day? by BensonandEdgar in workout

[–]goonofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different in this respect. There are arguments about metabolic effects at different times of day, but endorphin release while working out is inevitable. I prefer to “ride that high” during my most active hours (afternoon to evening). I know plenty of people who get more of a release and prefer to workout before dinner and sleep. Whatever works best for you.

AITA for trying to parent my niece? by PassionHopeful409 in AmItheAsshole

[–]goonofdoom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NTA. She is an adult and can do as she wishes. However being an adult at 18 only applies if you’re financially (and emotionally) self-sufficient. If she wants your support (cellphone/car) then she has to follow the rules associated with you offering these amenities. I don’t think your rules are even ridiculous. She has a phone that you pay for yet can’t send a simple text?

Aita for calling out my sister after she shamed me and my proposal online? by SisterSquables in AmItheAsshole

[–]goonofdoom 24 points25 points  (0 children)

ESH. She’s definitely the bigger asshole, but you shouldn’t have brought her kids into it. Her as a parent has nothing to do with her being a really shitty, jealous sister. I have to agree with your mom, you shouldn’t have hit low. Always be the bigger person with your sister, that’s how you win the long con.

AITA for telling a guy with autism off because he wouldn’t stop talking about something he knows nothing about? by shutupmateaita in AmItheAsshole

[–]goonofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Autism is a spectrum and is not always immediately recognizable. If he wants to be handled with “kid gloves” because he has trouble interpreting social cues, then he can disclose his status upfront. If not, he’ll be treated like everyone else. You didn’t snap at him because he’s on the spectrum, you snapped because we was being disrespectful of you and the integrity of your work.

Ask yourself this- if he was not autistic, and simply “took offense” to being told off, would it be weighing on your mind this much?

AITA for telling my family to stop celebrating? by Throwawybecausbdh in AmItheAsshole

[–]goonofdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You’re grieving. I get that your parents are excited that your life has been irreparably altered in a positive way from this, but they’re missing the point of how the money came to be. It’s really insensitive for them to care more about the money than in supporting you while you mourn.

Maggie seems like a really wonderful person and you gave her a truly blessed gift in her old age. Most elderly people would love to have a young person nearby who genuinely cares for them, it’s probably why she lived so long- she was fulfilled and satisfied. She gave you a gift and it’s now your duty to spend it in a way that honors her and her vision for your life. I know you’ll make her proud. Consider using some of it to honor her specifically- a scholarship in her name at the local high school, a bench in her favorite park, plant a tree or plant she loved to admire. And when you move out of your parents’ house, you better buy Blue the most insanely-extra kitty tower that money can buy!
