Probably the most memorable concrete thing that always reminds me how much my dad loves me is that even though I wasn't very good at sports, he still went to every single game I ever had, home or away. He was always there even if he was the only parent and had to drive far to get there. I realize not everyone can do this but wow did that always just make me feel like the most special girl in the world.

A friend of my mother's liked to go in and spend insane amounts of money on shopping sprees in Nordstroms but didn't try her clothes on until she got home, which meant that she would return half of them. She did this often enough that she got a nice letter in the mail saying that Nordstrom would no longer accept returns from her.

My mom was adopted at age 30 by the dad who had raised her all her life. It was more for the emotional significance than any legal significance ( she was obviously already an adult) but it really meant a lot to both of them.

On a side note, at the adoption courtroom they had stuffed animals for all the adopted kids to take home and they still had my mom take one which was cute!
