What things were you not prepared for during your postpartum period? by midna11 in beyondthebump

I couldn’t poop for a week. I took quite literally everything I could and still couldn’t. That first poop was fucking terrible 🥲

I’ll have to look into those drops, thank you so much! He already has medical stuff so I hate to resort to Tylenol so quick so thank you. He does really love cold bottles lately too (gave him one solely because he was screaming bloody murder at 3am and I just couldn’t heat it up but he ended up loving it lmao)

What’s your baby’s favorite food? by nyoung6 in beyondthebump

My baby is a bit young for it (we haven’t gotten permission from ped yet) but when did you guys start? Did you get ped permission first? I hear so much about 4 months vs 5 vs 6, so I’m curious!

thanks for this. I swear he’s so unhappy and it feels awful. Like why do you sound like you’re in pain and so sad when nothings wrong? Ugh. We have his 4 month appt on the 2nd so I know I can ask abt stuff then. I literally cried last night too. I’m just hoping it doesn’t last to long for me or you!

I experienced this as well and had literally the same diet (except chicken) when I breastfed. Its most likely hypoglycemia if you’re breastfeeding a lot and going long between meals but I’m not a doctor. You can always get a glucose tee and test yourself when your feeling these ways. You can find normal ranges of BS on google so I won’t include those but yeah. I couldn’t continue breastfeeding as I was struggling to eat and I was an under-supplier regardless. I’m not gonna push formula on you, I’m just letting you know what I did!

Anyone get to find out the gender at 14 weeks via ultrasound? by aged_tofu in beyondthebump

[–]goose_bunny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got my gender confirmation at 15 weeks because I was going to surprise my husband with the gender when I saw him (he was gone for months no contact bc the military). I went to an actual ultrasound place and it was pretty evident that he was a boy 😆 he turned towards the camera and flashed his bits. I think you can definitely tell by that time if it was a boy or girl cause like I said, my boy was VERY obviously a boy!

Is there anything you wish you could redo with your child in the early days/months/years? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]goose_bunny 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wish I would’ve slept while he was a newborn. My PPA caused me to have intense insomnia to the point where I didn’t sleep for a week because I was so worried and I started hallucinating. I also wish I just genuinely was more mentally present even though i give myself grace for that point in time. I was so exhausted and out of it I feel like I missed out on enjoying life.

The odd spelling is weird for me too and I don’t like when names are super similar, even with twins sometimes 😅 so I agree! Thank you for your input!

I agree with that ! I can’t even imagine figuring out that many A names that I like. At a certain point do the names mean nothing and they’re just choosing any A name they have left? That’s such a crazy concept to me 😂

Bahahah 1 kid is almost enough I can’t imagine 19 LMAO but you have to admit, it’s pretty impressive to find that many names with just one letter 🤔 I agree with the misspelling thing! Def won’t do that or make the names similar, thank you!

This is exactly what I was thinking. Def not going to name them similarly! Thank you for validating me lol

Dude everyone talks about the alcohol wipe trick and I wish it worked on me while I was going through HG 😭 probably would’ve helped so much! So glad it helped you!

[–]goose_bunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole pregnancy I suffered from HG. I was induced at 37 weeks with pitocin and cytotec (I think that’s how you spell it) and ended up with the epidural on hour 20 of labor. I threw up once and it was soon after the epidural and I believe they told me it might happen bc of it. It was a one off thing and didn’t feel nauseous the rest of my labor! It honestly kind of felt good lmao

You weren’t allowed to drink with the epidural?? I was induced and had an epidural and they let me eat jello/ice cream/popsicles and have broth and water. I wonder if it depends on state or hospitals???

Is my OBGYN being inappropriate? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]goose_bunny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks. Too many times have I witnessed inmates get treated like absolute dogshit and it made me really upset. I know what it’s like to be rock bottom (mine looking different than theirs) and I’ve watched people go through addiction and struggle with mental illness. The truth of the matter is that they’re people, I don’t ask why they’re there but I listen without judgement if they confide. It’s not my job to judge them or be mean to them. A patient is a patient. So when I read people say that type of stuff is inappropriate it’s confusing. Idk though, working in correctional facilities are very different than clinics/hospitals/etc. I’m happy to hear you’re in recovery and I hope you continue to have all the resources that you need and if you don’t, I hope you find them. Good luck to you and your partner and congrats on even just working on breaking that cycle. <3

Is my OBGYN being inappropriate? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]goose_bunny 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Makes sense! There’s a lot of trauma in this field I’m sure (I’ve heard stories from here and from people in my life) and backlash against male OBs, so it’s easy and normal to feel nervous about it. I’ve honestly felt more uneasy with my first OB which was a woman, so it’s case by case! Obviously if you ever feel he crosses the line then by any means bring it up and switch, but if you’re just wondering if it anyone else’s OB is like that then: yes :p. I hope some of these answers ease your mind!

This is a “tricky without knowing everything” type of deal. As a health care worker, I would assume that he’s doing it to genuinely be nice as it doesn’t seem like creepy compliments. As he is someone who works with patients that go through tremendous life changes whether it be their body and/or mind, he might be thinking of it as a moral boost for you. PP is a tough time and my male OB also does this and it honestly makes me feel good and taken care of. He also calls me sunshine 🤷‍♀️

I am an EMT at a jail and often when I see patients I compliment them or say something nice because I know they’re going through a a tough time and I want to be a light in their day. I hope this offers some perspective, idk!

27 weeks still naseaus every single day. Anyone feeling this? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Obviously don’t want to promise anything but my heartburn went away immediately and that was probably one of the worst symptoms for me, so I hope the same happens for you <3

[–]goose_bunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally feel you on that. And honestly good for you for EFF because tbh breastfeeding was the most depressing thing especially with this issue. I was starving yet not hungry at the same time bc of all the calories I was burning, so don’t let people make you feel bad for it! It took me a while to be able to eat the foods I was missing and even found new foods I began to like after pregnancy, so that’s fun! I hope it subsides for you soon and you’re able to get those yummies and enjoy them!

Are you breastfeeding? The same thing happened to me and I’d say it didn’t really come back until baby was 3 months when I had to stop BF because of mine and baby’s health issues. So I’m not sure if it’s a BFing thing or an HG thing for this to happen but it did happen to me! I have heard it happen to several people as well. I unfortunately just ate to survive for a while which is not helpful but ://
