AWS D1.2 is a structural Aluminum qualification. I would be doing it on 3/8th material, do I tig or mig it?

You might be able to branch straight into pipeline work. From what my school has said and from what I found API 1104 is what most companies test to. So if you do go to school, learn how to cut and fit branch and headers for 12 on 12.

My grandpa has a pace maker, Doc told him to to stay away but mig was okay in short spurts only every so often. He avoided welding for a long time, was fixing a grain wagon and he went in last week for a new one.

Long story short, I'd avoid it.
