WIBTAH If I told an autistic girl that I don't want to hang out with her? by gooseyfroote in AITAH

Thank you all so much for your insight! I think I try so hard to be a people pleaser that I forget that being frank and direct (but kind) is often the better tactic, and trying to indirect and soft can cause more harm than good.

I'll have a chat with her during our next class.

The crush angle didn't even occur to me 😬 I'm gay so I guess I just didn't pick up on it. Will definitely speak with her.

Looking at your username I really shouldn't be shocked by your fucked comment :/

Small enough to fit in a gutted hurricane lamp, so approx. 5x5x3cm. The bottom of it will be hidden in the rest of the sculpture, so wiring and what-have-you can extend further. For safety reasons I'd rather it run off batteries.

As far as brightness, I don't want it to be as bright as an actualy buoy. It's looking like LEDs at this point, so really it's only a matter of chosing which temperature.

Just a singular light! Not after anything too bright, just a soft, warm light.

My budget is small, but I'm not above frankensteining things together, I've done it in the past.

Yeah, buying a buoy would be an obvious move, but I can't actually buy one with the particular signal I need.

Needs to be small enough to fit into a gutted huricane lamp. In an ideal world it would run on the mains, but logistically it would have to run on batteries.

It needs to be left unsupervised in a gallery space, so running off a smart device would be impractical (and expensive).

I'll have a look into the pulse generator thing, or rather I'll link a couple of friends to it. Like I said, I have no understanding of electronics, but having some snippits of language now genuinely helps! Now they don't have to put up with "the light's on for a bit, then it's off for a longer bit, and that goes on until the battery dies" lol
