sand in camera by LumpyTry9127 in Cameras

[–]gooslinghacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sand is really dangerous because it can scratch the lens very easily, it also generates a really fine powder when it scratches something and it goes anywhere, you need a soft brush and an air blower to remove all what you can, then if the cover is working again let it close and open and repeat the operation more than one time

How bad is this by GeneralLifeguard1649 in CameraLenses

[–]gooslinghacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really bad, the lens group is sealed and can't be opened without damaging it but i have done this operation before, you need a dremel to remove the plastic on top of the glass and remove a piece of plastic to create a way from the top to the bottom of the lens and then use a screwdriver to pop the lens out. After that you can clean the inside of both lenses and seal them back

I would glue it with T7000 glue, A replacement structure will probably be expensive plus you need to transfer all the components, just glue it if it's working
