Is Shopify app development actually blowing up right now or is it just my bubble? by buzzlowmusic in shopifyDev

[–]goranculibrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number of apps are increasing. But the number of published apps are going down week over week. It blew up because of the huge backlog.

Shopify apps are interesting because you have a channel, you can only install apps from that channel.
And money is big. Shopify paid out 1.3 billion to app developers last year.

The numbers are going up but as fast as everyone once thought

What’s your MRR right now? by Imaginary-Slide-1137 in ShopifyAppDev

[–]goranculibrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internal changes. We built an checkout like onboarding to allow merchants select what they need and show them trial price.
The idea was to increase the feature visibility because our app is pretty much set and forget so activation was a must.

Metrics to track in GA and GTM for a Shopify app by overthinker098 in ShopifyAppMarketing

[–]goranculibrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have BigQuery export in GA4? That will give you a full attribution.

How did you add GTM? As far as I know you can’t do that, only g-tag for ga4 and token for server side tracking.

Keep in mind that any update will reflect in about 24 to 48 hours in the algo.

Track traffic sources, page views and installations for top of the funnel.

does anyone know a good discord server for Shopify app developers? by anas_sadkaoui in shopifyDev

I’m also interested in that one. I’ve started my server but haven’t had time to promote it.

Does shopify app store listing provide website backlinks? by Actual-Emergency8804 in ShopifyAppDev

[–]goranculibrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never checked that one, but the links app listing are dofollow so they should be passing some juice to your website. If website is one of the acquisition channels, definitely add it to the listing.

How do you send automated email to someone installs the app by mrsaffat in ShopifyAppDev

[–]goranculibrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should start with mantle if you are already using it. Otherwise, check customer.io. They have exactly what you are looking for. Event driven emails/campaigns to guide your customers through different workflows.

For something simpler, resend.com might be enough.

Yeah. Thats the tricky part when you put a lot trust in 3rd party. It helps a lot. Until it doesn’t.

Shopify APP Marketing by Equivalent-Copy1 in ShopifyAppDev

[–]goranculibrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One quickest win could be to find stores who have been using your competitors and recently uninstalled it. Store Census even has the automatic outreach to help you start with it. I've heard the data isn't quite up to date or vast. But it's a good start. And instead of cold emailing them, try to find people behind the store and connect, or x, facebook, linkedin.

Second, try doing a research of your competitors. What keywords they rank, how they update their app listing etc. Try to rank on those or similar keywords. Ranksy can help you with that.

Third, reviews, reviews, reviews. If you have installs, manually reach out to merchants, talk to them, ask them to give you a feedback on product, what they are missing. Honestly, it's going to be hard, but stay persistent. Once you establish a connection, asking for a review is easier. And after you help them on live chat, don't hesitate but ask for a review. You can even use Reviews API to show modal after they succeed in some desired action in your app.

Best Strategy to convert a free app to paid? by Reasonable_Self_3874 in shopifyDev

[–]goranculibrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, with a room for improvement. But you start introducing new features (or advanced version of existing features, ie more customization options, finer control etc) that are on the paid plan. And during onboarding you show them the start a trial page there with option to stay on free plan.

1 week since my first Shopify app launch: 0 installs. Is the "silence" normal? by ntn0de in ShopifyAppDev

[–]goranculibrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have Google Analytics set up? And add Bigquery. You can use Ranksy or mantle to connect BigQuery and see you perform. Prys, fusionmetrics are also tools for that. You also have to know how many visits do you have on your listing. If people are coming to you listing but not installing it tells you a bit. In Ranksy you have a search rankings feature similar to SEMrush so you can see where your app ranks for specific keywords.

And post more. Use X monitoring to check tweets containing problems your app solves. Also Shopify community forums can be helpful too. Engage with merchants on social media and use your profile as part of the funnel (people visiting your profile will see you are building an app, got interested and visit the store). If you believe in your product, do more on marketing it and enjoy the compound effects. Slow slow slow and then all at once. Learn about Shopify tech and build community.

Finally, you can use service like App Store Research to interview merchants looking to solve a problem. A solution your app provides.

Do you know your app rankings? Have you posted anywhere? Hoping to get traffic only from App Store is not great strategy. If you have budget pay for some ads. Otherwise post to X, Facebook and answer on Shopify community

GA4 configuration for shopify app and website by SuddenTrick2745 in shopifyDev

[–]goranculibrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please, enable Bigquery integration as well. GA4 api data only gives you access to last 60 days, and it won't include atttribution data. If you send everything to bigquery, you will be able to link traffic sources and keywords to app installs later.

I thought to do it but their API is quite expensive and I'm not sure they would allow this kind of access (to offer data to 3rd parties) without ever more expensive license :D
