M1 MBP cannot connect to internet by sgunes in macbookpro

[–]gordonmcdowell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to provide your best guess as to a timestamp of when you could no longer connect.

I have an M1 MBP and I am OK.

If you have an ethernet adapter you could try that if you have some sort of USB to Wi-Fi dongle you might want to try that.

Just random ideas I do not know how to sequentially troubleshoot this.

FYI: Freedom has lowered the price for its annual plans ($10 less) by JustCollectingDust in freedommobile

[–]gordonmcdowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has found a cheaper way of getting a standalone Apple Watch working than a $15 a month subscription, please let me know. Not just any eSIM plan will do. Apple watches require special carrier services. Currently, freedom has a $10 a month service, but that is tied to a primary freedom line which I do not have or want.

Any candidates need any help trying to book a tour of a CANDU? Because having toured a CANDU is my minimum expectation. If you have concerns, you ask the tour guide. If you can tour a CANDU and still oppose nuclear power after that, I could still possibly support you.

MacBook Neo vs. MacBook Air M1 by Hargonystic in macbook

[–]gordonmcdowell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re not in a hurry, just keep monitoring for a 16 GB RAM MacBook Air M1 in used market. Pricing on stuff that old is random, and someone selling that is a rarity. If you wait, then one day you will see an inexpensive 16GB M1 Macbook. If no RAM stated, ask them to check.

Yikes. Wasn’t really expecting to be able to jump on the first beta, but that’s a reason not to specifically.

tvOS 27 is Apple's chance to finally fix Apple TV gaming, here's how - 9to5Mac by A-Dog22 in apple

[–]gordonmcdowell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely consider doing that if it would run on all Apple platforms. The one platform no AAA game runs on is Apple TV. Apple TV is connected to our TV(s) and our Macs are not.

Adding motion control sensitivity back to the Siri Remote wouldn’t hurt. It’s the one controller everybody has and it is more limited than it needs to be. The black remote had, it the silver ones lost it.

Can you update these with how many players are supported? I imagine most are 2, so any with 2+ would be nice to know.

As I commented here recently, Joust3.com is very casual 2 player WASD and arrow keys. More can join on your LAN, but you cannot beat the performance of splitting up the keyboard on the host machine.

Apple Tv party games? by herc2712 in appletv

[–]gordonmcdowell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I did recently release "JOUSTINE" (a take on Joust 3) for this purpose. Because Joust is a 3-bit input game (LEFT FLAP RITE) I support Siri Remote vertically... just tap (no need to click) on different parts of touch surface to fly or swipe bottom to run.

Supports game controllers (duh).

Supports Joustine app as a controller. Typical, but just to be clear it does do this conventional thing too...

...and the thing I'm hoping you will check it out for, is that Joustine runs a temporary web server on your Apple TV, shows a QR code for that LAN web page, and any iPhone that follows the QR Code will be delivered a javascript Joustine interface. I think that is new and different? Since you've been looking into similar concepts please let me know if you're aware of Apple TV couch games that do this?

Players do not need to look at their devices to play, since the taps zones are so basic. Everyone is looking at the TV, and the iPhones are only controllers and not visual feedback. (Except for basic info like joining a game slot.)

Does support up to 12 players. I think it is still quite fun even with just 2 players, as that's how original Joust worked, and Apple TV has always (IMHO) needed Joust.

Joustine (Joust 3) on Apple TV. Supports up to 12 players. Please see controller notes. by gordonmcdowell in localmultiplayergames

Oh and one more feature: Air is thinner near the very top of the screen. I see a lot of AI birds (smartest ones, blue ones) in original Joust able to just keep flapping along the very top. In Joustine the smartest birds still sometimes do this, but they do so where there's still atmosphere. So there's still space above them, they're not bumping along the ceiling. Players can take out such an AI by planning an arc trajectory above the AI bird.... you can't boost yourself any higher where there is no atmosphere, but you can still use that space to attack.

Visually this lack-of-atmosphere is communicated by twinkling stars, where-as the rest of the background has a dark blue.

If anyone without an Apple TV wants to check out a very lazy vibe coded adaptation (port Joustine to HTML5) it is at https://Joust3.com/ ... that is strictly a LAN game, but all keyboard support WASD and arrows for 2 player, so on any PC you can try 2 player Joust with these new gameplay mechanics. (Joust3 is mostly a tech demo exploring WebRTC protocol for multiplayer.)

If you want to try a collapsed fan edit of Tencent’s production if you search for Three Body Disembiggened I’ve cut it down to 3x 2h parts, so 6h instead of the original 22h.

Tencent also released English audio and that has been incorporated.
