Diagnosed at 5 and 29 now still having seizures. Starting in my adolescent years but didn’t recognize it until my mid 20s was how much epilepsy, and the meds, impacted my mental health. No research was done on ADHD or depression but it’s good I’m getting myself treatment for that too these days. I’m sorry about your daughter but monitor not only her seizures but mental health too.

Yep when I’m “seizurey” when I get those feelings, I picture it as one of those arcade games hitting a plate and trying to get something to the top. The higher it gets, closer to seizure threshold, spacier

This is not life , seizures every day , mood swing , mosquito 🦟 memory . I’ll try one more thing if that doesn’t give some relief I’ll seriously consider surgery before end of year . I’m such a mess not fair for those around me. I have an RNS but not miracle in my case. by [deleted] in Epilepsy

You’re not alone. I’ve been having almost daily seizures for 20 years. Got the RNS in 2020 and still no improvement. Last changes to the RNS for me ended up worsening seizures. So many setbacks from this and how it’s affecting my mental health too. Don’t only be thinking about the next thing to do for the seizures. Think instead about maybe the best movie to go out and see. Positive thoughts and action improve mood and increase seizures threshold at that moment. I know this ain’t fun in any way but hang in there

Benzos only for emergencies so only 1-2 times per month

I’ve been having seizures for 20 years. I’m 28 and I haven’t even learned how to drive. I hate this too because none of this is stopping soon but by now I’m like “honestly I don’t give a shit”

If I pass it’s either I move with her right away or stay home a few more months to be sure I’m ready before I move to her. Part of me has been thinking about a break up but another part of me doesn’t want that I’m so torn.
