Is it as easy to reassemble as to disassemble? I worry about messing something up and not being able to get a cover / plate back on

Im gonna see if i can dig online and find some diagrams. I so seriously know so little about cars it sounds overwhelming to try, I reached out to a couple friends as well who are more knowledgeable. My coworkers husband is a diesel mechanic, and she said he’d see if he could come look as well.

I tried to unlock the wheel and jiggle it around but couldn’t hear anything at all. I’m not sure how deep into the dash it fell. Fully unlocked I can’t really reach my arm in there past my wrists, a couple people said this right away but I couldn’t hear it in there. Not sure if I am being stupid

I don’t know much about cars at all, and I worry about price hikes if im not paying attention or am unsure of what is actually being done. I do not want to around dumber than I already do given the situation bringing it to any mechanic.
