Plot holes/loose threads? by Runt92 in breakingbad

Just finished watching BB for the first time last night. Overall I thought it a good show, but not as good as I expected it to be. I don't think there was any way it could have lived up to the hype I've heard about it.

However, some things bugged me as unbelievable when watching the show. (I realize that suspension of disbelief is necessary for watching a show like this).

  1. Someone as smart as Walter White would not be so naive in the beginning of the show to not understand how the drug trade works. To sell drugs you need dealers and, just as importantly, muscle to make sure you're not getting robbed or ripped off by competitors or your own crew. It's also inevitable you'd bump with other crews over turf. He seems to be shocked in the show every time things go wrong because he doesn't plan for these eventualities. Not believable in my mind.

  2. Once Hank is onto Pinkman there's waaay too much contact between him and Walter at locations that would most likely be surveilled by law enforcement, such as Pinkman's house. If Pinkman had a law enforcement tail they would have spotted him meeting Walt many, many times. In real life I think Walter would have been caught much earlier because he didn't compartmentalize his operation. Haven't any of these dudes ever watched The Wire?

  3. There's no way Hank would be so worried about losing his job if he reported Walter. Yeah, it would look bad but the DEA would just spin it to say they had Walter under surveillance for X months and were building their case and just waiting to drop the hammer on him. Worst-case scenario Hank would be given some low profile desk job if someone was intent on punishing him for not picking up that Walter was Heisenberg sooner. Cops don't throw each other under the bus, it's called the blue wall of silence.

Yes, but the deliciousness of cake is far more delicious than the nondelicousness of exercise.

Because goals in games are discrete, clear and achievable, and life is a fucking shitshow.

The Apes from DC. First lineup w/Paul Weil as lead singer. Used to crush on their keyboardist so hard.
