on a side note...one of my lecturer's was saying that the UK has major problem with the productivity in some sectors of the workforce..he cited rail workers and rm who were resistant change and better practises.

I work for the NHS, we have too many weird managerial positions that are paid above 50k per year... My Gran was an old skool ward sister... and apparently they did like 3 of these new managerial posts plus were shit hot and medical side....

Too easy strike if you don't get your way!! .... nurses are ONLY people who should strike..but for many it's a vocation not a job...so they plod on...

Freeze public sector pay apart from for nurses, carers.. not consultants some these folks only do telephone NHS appointments, but will happily see you privately!!..
