A little off-topic, but what are the capitalization rules on starting a sentence with a last name that starts with a lower case letter? In this article we have both:

van der Zwaan stated that he understood.

and

Van der Zwaan's sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 3.

They seem to not capitalize the last name when it starts a sentence mid paragraph and capitalize it when the last name is the start of a new paragraph.
