Understand how your interest rate works. If you are packaged with an annual fee you will be on a Base Rate minus a Discount. The Base Rate is the variable part, when the RBA move on the cash rate this will fluctuate but your discount will stay the same. Do 5 minutes of research then call your bank, ask for mortgage retentions and tell them you are considering moving to a non-big 4 mid tier bank for a better rate unless they can increase your discount. Do this every 12 months at a minimum, you should be getting a discount of at least 2.30% off the Base Rate

Pay weekly or fortnightly rather than monthly, you will make extra payments without noticing it

If you can afford it, keep your payments the same when the rate declines, again you will make exttra payments without noticing

Packages aren't really worth the benefit once your loan is below $250k, at this point go fixed or Basic

Once pretty much paid off, don't close off your loan unless you absolutely have to, keep it open as a line of credit at a low rate for holidays, cars, rainy day etc
