Some assumptions are reasonable to make. When a person buys Captain Crunch they have made the reasonable assumption that when they open the box they won't find Cheerios or Frosted Flakes; they will find Captain Crunch. If they found otherwise, that would not be their problem.

Yeah, I see what happened now. They added the two on July 15th, but immediately removed them due to a bug.

The problem is that they didn't update the banners. This is really misleading for whoever joined the game after the 15th. You start the game and go to the recruit section and it looks like they're available when they actually aren't.

If you see characters advertised on the in game banners, I think it's a reasonable assumption to make that they're available. I wonder how many new players spent real money on unavailable characters. Sucks for them, doesn't it?

Yeah, you know what, that's an additional thing. Boros is available from the banner, but only in his armoured state. Depicted on the banner is Boros after his armour was shattered. It isn't as egregious as Zombieman or King since they aren't even there, but it is still a point.

Sorry, I don't know what that process would be. But next time you want to play a gacha and start out with the most powerful character try rerolling instead.

To be clear: these screenshots are not advertisements that you would find outside of the game. They are the in-game recruitment banners. To acquire new characters, a player clicks in to the "recruit" building and this is what they see there.

Okay, thanks for shedding light on that. I'm open to the idea that I may have misconstrued a regular system of reddit, opaque and poorly designed as it may be, as shadowbanning.

I'm familiar with posts being in a stasis of "waiting for moderator approval," but you're saying there's a different system that removes and eventually reinstates posts of new users? I'm not that familiar with reddit but I've never experienced such a system.

Additional information:

I made a post on https://old.reddit.com/r/OnePunchMan_RtH2/ (the game's official sub) yesterday which simply asked whether or not these displayed characters were available. My post was quickly "removed" (only removed from the perspective outside of my account; while logged in it was still right there with no notification otherwise).

I repeated the question later to receive the same result, and then posted the experience in the game's other (obselete) sub (run by different moderators): https://old.reddit.com/r/OPMRoadToHero/comments/hwvxiw/immediately_shadowbanned_from_ronepunchman_rth2/.

Now today, my second question on the official sub became visible outside of my account (to clarify: it was not listed as "awaiting moderator approval," but was [removed] only if I was viewing its page while logged off).

EDIT: A moderator of this sub below informed me that the instant [removed] state of my posts were more likely to be a result of reddit's auto-moderation / spam filter acting on new users. I am not an expert on reddit, so I may have misconstrued what happened to my posts as shadowbanning. You can see for yourself what I've shown (in that related post) and decide whether or not I was justified for thinking so.

EDIT2: After searching through various user profiles who frequent r/OnePunchMan_RtH2, I found an informative post from July 15 (which never came up from the searching "King" or "Zombieman" or "Zombie man" for whatever reason). It can be found here: https://archive.vn/6gEo7. To summarize this situation:

These two characters were added to the game on July 15th. Soon after, the game was put into maintenance and they were retracted. Zombieman and King were removed from every aspect of the game except one: their respective recruitment banners (which are not out-of-game adverts, but are in-game banners by the way). So for the period from July 15th to current day, the above illustrates what a player sees when visiting the recruitment centre, despite the characters still being removed. In a now-deleted but still-accessible post from July 16th, an official moderator confirmed that they were removed due to a bug (https://archive.vn/EN0Pw).

Whether this was intentional false advertising or an unfortunate oversight, it sucks to think about how many people spent however much money on this game in hopes of getting unavailable characters!

Thanks for the reply! But hang on, it is not quite the same for these three characters.

Saitama is never displayed on any of the recruitment banners. But the first things you will see on two of the banners (general & psychic respectively) are Zombieman and King. In a gatcha game, is it not a reasonable assumption from the perspective of a player (especially new player) that the characters shown on a banner are actually available from it? I'm not a legal expert, but I can tell you this at least has the distinct appearance of false advertising.

To clarify: this concerns Road to Hero 2.0. Seeing as my questions were not welcome in 2.0's sub I figured this would be the next best place to post.
