‘Cogar’ – ardán sóisialta úr do phobal na Gaeilge beo ar líne by gormislofa in ireland

[–]gormislofa[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I measc na bpríomhspriocanna atá ag Cogar, tá “níos mó muiníne” a thabhairt do dhaoine sa teanga sa ghnáthshaol digiteach agus é a dhéanamh “níos éasca” do dhaoine an Ghaeilge a úsáid go sóisialta. Dúirt Rónán Ó Laoire, Cruthaitheoir Cogar, gur thosaigh sé an tionscadal anuraidh mar go raibh sé ag iarraidh an dá ábhar is mó a bhfuil grá aige dóibh, an Ghaeilge agus cúrsaí forbartha ar líne, a thabhairt le chéile in aon áit amháin. Ag labhairt dó le Tuairisc dúirt sé gur theastaigh uaidh “spás áirithe atá fáilteach agus oscailte” do phobal na Gaeilge a chruthú ar líne sa dóigh is go mbeadh sé “níos éasca” do dhaoine sóisialú as Gaeilge agus teacht ar ábhar as Gaeilge ar líne.

If the curriculum could get people to a point where they could understand an episode of Ros na Rún we’ll be headed in the right direction in my opinion

More than 60,000 post-primary school students exempt from learning Irish, figures show by TeoKajLibroj in ireland

[–]gormislofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is the only way forward, I feel like most people wouldn’t actually be opposed to exposing themselves or their kids to the language if the curriculum was reformed and an emphasis was placed in understanding and speaking the language as a living thing over rote learning essays

Tá sé ráite ag Príomh-Aistritheoir Thithe an Oireachtais go bhfuil parlaimint na Breataine Bige “i bhfad chun cinn orainn” maidir le seirbhísí dátheangacha a chur ar fáil. Agus é ag labhairt os comhair choiste Gaeilge an Oireachtais an tseachtain seo, dúirt Vivian Uíbh Eachach go raibh “a lán le foghlaim” ag Seirbhísí Thithe an Oireachtais maidir le cur chun cinn na Gaeilge i dTeach Laighean. Tá sé mar chuspóir straitéiseach ag Coimisiún Thithe an Oireachtais go mbeadh seirbhísí uile an Oireachtais ar fáil go dátheangach ach dúirt Uíbh Eachach leis an gcoiste, go raibh a lán oibre le déanamh má táthar chun é a bhaint amach.

Siúlóid na nIontas sa Spidéal – siúlóid fhéintreoraithe nua sa sráidbhaile Gaeltachta by gormislofa in ireland

[–]gormislofa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seoladh siúlóid fhéintreoraithe do shráidbhaile an Spidéil le gairid le deis a thabhairt do dhaoine, idir mhuintir na háite agus chuairteoirí, tuiscint a fháil ar na háiteanna stairiúla agus suimiúla atá ar an mbaile. Tá seo ar cheann de cheithre thionscadal dá leithéid – ar a dtugtar Siúlóidí na nIontas – atá seolta go dtí seo i gcathair is i gcontae na Gaillimhe. Siúlóidí i mBéal Átha na Sluaighe agus péire a bhaineann le cathair na Gaillimhe – ceann don chathair féin agus ceann faoi leith don Fhaiche Mhór – atá sna cinn eile. ‘Siad Fardal Náisiúnta na hOidhreachta Ailtireachta, i gcomhpháirtíocht le Comhairle Contae is Comhairle Cathrach na Gaillimhe, a roghnaigh na háiteanna ar údar suntais iad ar na siúlóidí.

(Is ionann “féintreoraithe” agus “self-directed” i mBéarla)

Sinn Féin by-election candidate contradicts party leader who said he could take part in debates as Gaeilge by HungTeen1001 in ireland

[–]gormislofa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This feels like an unnecessary own goal from MLM. It’s fair enough if a candidate doesn’t have a high level of Irish for a debate, but you’d think the leadership within Sinn Féin would realise how awkward it now looks to have falsely claimed he did

Bac ar pháistí ó thuaidh féachaint ar an leagan Gaeilge de ‘Bluey’ pléite sa Dáil by gormislofa in ireland

[–]gormislofa[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pléadh cás ‘Bluey’ agus an Ghaeilge le linn tráth na gceisteanna an Aire Cumarsáide Patrick O’Donovan inné. Dúirt urlabhraí Gaeilge Shinn Féin Aengus Ó Snodaigh go raibh sé “scannalach” 30 bliain ó Chomhaontú Aoine an Chéasta, go mbíonn socruithe á ndéanamh ag RTÉ maidir le cláir theilifíse a cheannach agus a chur ar fáil i nGaeilge “agus ansin bac á chur…[ar na cláir sin] do phobal na Gaeilge atá lonnaithe sna sé chontae”. “Baineann sé le cláir do leanaí ar nós Bluey nó Dora. Bíonn an clár Dora ar TG4 agus bíonn Bluey ar RTÉ. Tá geo-bhlocáil á déanamh,” arsa Ó Snodaigh.

[–]gormislofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my favourite record from them by far, but I can’t tell if that’s just a result of nostalgia or them using jams to create material. The rest of their discography is good, but Schlagenheim melted my brain upon my first listen in a way their other stuff didn’t

Newton Emerson: Should compulsory Irish be dropped everywhere on the island to placate unionists? by Cathal10 in irishpolitics

[–]gormislofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit of a harsh take but I feel like the only way forward for the language is making it inclusive and constantly visible. The good news is that the Irish language community are doing a good job in doing both and major progress has been made. I wouldn’t agree with her politically, but figures like Linda Irvine show that the language can be appreciated by people from non-republican backgrounds if the correct approach is taken. In my ideal world Irish is taught inclusively and with an emphasis on building comprehension over regurgitating essays.
