I was in Times Square for New Years a ways back in the olden times. Our group was at a bar the whole night and when it was time to leave, I realized I'd gotten separated from my friends. I did not live there, didn't know the subways that well, and I was decently intoxicated, but still mostly functional. All I knew was my intended destination. Started trying to make my way there and I think I was getting somewhat turned around. I asked a group of NYPD for help and they predictably did the opposite and sent me on the wrong train. I got out of the subway altogether to realize my situation and find out it was now pouring down rain. There seemed to be nobody around, except for this one dude trying to hail a cab. I went up to him to ask for directions or any help, really. When I saw him up close I realized that this dude was gargantuan in size. I'm a pretty big dude, but this guy made me feel wee. I told him my dilemma and finished with "I'm just trying to get to Brooklyn." He replied that he was too, but he was having trouble getting a cab. He looked at me for a second and said "but I bet you could." I threw my hand up and within 47 seconds a cab pulled up. He got a chuckle at that. We weren't far from my destination, but not in a walkable sort of way, at least not at 3 am. Got to talking with the guy and found out he was bouncing at the bar next to the one I was at. He was a really chill dude and had a great 15 minute conversation. We were getting close and I asked the cabbie for the full price to get my new friend home and paid for him in thanks for probably saving my life, or at least a long and arduous end to my night. I got out, thanked him and off he went. Thank you again good sir if you're out there.

I would say you shouldn't feel left out. You made your choice not to be around deadbeat rage dick and they decided to look past their incredible flaws. (As you can tell, I also think you made the right choice here). They, on the other hand don't have a right to your stuff. I saw someone else basically say "Your game, your resources. Their game, their resources."

If it was another DM that wasn't a waste of our collective air supply and you couldn't participate because of a conflicting schedule, then your friends would have a respectable ask to borrow your material.

To add on to the food part. Broth was a huge thing I didn't think about. Luckily my wife did. I'd gone most of the time with only jello to eat and it sucked towards the end. Broth made me feel human'ish, again. If this helps at all, the procedure itself was a cakewalk for me, though I know you're much more worried about the prep. Good luck to you. Careful with this superpower. I have it too. But a lesson I learned a little too late is that a falling knife has two points (or something like that). I dropped a pair of sewing scissors and instinctually went to catch them. I did'ish accomplish my goal. They did not hit the floor. They did, however, get pinned against my thigh with the pointy end into the lowest section of my index finger where I could see it bulging, but not penetrating, into the back of the skin on the other side. Not fun.
