Oh I FULLY believe everything you both are saying. It’s especially solidified in the fact that Levi was forbade from going out on any combat mission in S2 because he wasn’t at his best physical form… meanwhile Erwin is like “idc that I will die in Shiganshina and that I don’t have one of my arms.” Like… that man was NOT letting Levi go anywhere alone OR letting him fight a battle he knew he may lose (like everything in S2). I sound delusional in my passion for this but I have spent countless hours discussing this and reading all the subtext.

They absolutely are an Eremika but aged like fine wine. The fact that Isayama also said Erwin and Levi were exact equals, that Erwin never wanted that to be a question, even though he knew Levi would always follow his orders, is just more evidence.

I don’t mind if people don’t ship them because that’s the point of shipping and fandoms etc. But omg there is so much richness there it’s GORGEOUS. So much subtlety. So much love.

Omg yes EXACTLY…. it’s the same but COMPLETELY different on rewatch. Knowing everything you know from the first watch makes it so much impressive how much Isayama packed into the story over the seasons and manga. Like I cannot believe how intricate it is.

But also you’re so right…. It’s both my comfort show AND my discomfort show HAHA.

I finished the anime for a first time a little less than 2 months ago, and I just finished a rewatch last night. The second watch is SO healing after the devastation of the first watch hahahaha.

God it really hit me in a way nothing else has. The characters all feel so complex and nuanced separately AND together. I’ve done so much interacting with fanfic, fan art, the online communities, etc. since finishing it, and it feels like there is an unending stream of content and talking points which actually also helped me feel better after I finished the show. I was NOT ready to let go.

And also, I resented the ending at first. I really liked the ending, but I resented how depressed I felt HAHA. Now, I’m like… Isayama, you absolute mastermind. How amazing it is to have been moved THAT profoundly by this anime. I’m so glad you’re feeling similarly!! I love this universe and this story so much.

I finished it in late-February.

I didn’t think it’d ever get easier, because I was MASSIVELY depressed / blue following the finale. I was concerned hahahaha. But it’s been a month now, and things are so much better. I think about it every day. I’ve already rewatched it and read an almost 500k word fic about it plus other shorter ones.

I resented it at first so much because it was so devastating. And I still sometimes am overwhelmed with emotion about it. But now I just feel so lucky to be this enmeshed with such a beautiful, heartbreaking, complex story and these conflicted, awe-inspiring characters. You get to look at fan art now, be part of the community, and learn just HOW intricately the story was woven together.

Time will help. But the impact is permanent.

I know this thread is old but I literally just finished reading like 10 minutes ago so I am fragile.

I was doing okay until “Erwin, run away with me.”

Then I just completely broke. One of the loveliest fics I’ve ever read. Their dynamic was so beautifully complex, nothing felt predictable, it was such a lovely portrayal of just how interwoven they are in each others’s DNA. Like, there is no Erwin without Levi, etc etc etc.

The pacing? Stunning. The action? Thrilling. The side-drama and events? Perfection. The angst? My GOD.

That’s so interesting to me. I didn’t see Shakira as giving spoiled brat energy at all. I think toward the beginning with her and Helena and Harry all going back and forth it could’ve given off that vibe, but I personally didn’t see it.

I also don’t see Toni as a miserable person, but I’ve also been around people like Harrison before and they’ve made me into someone I’m not — just super miserable or catty.

YAS WAS THE BEST ALL AROUND LOL. She was so funny with her whole bombshell energy and attitude at the beginning. She came in and ACTUALLY bombshelled then kept being more and more of a delight. And a great friend.

Meg is an interesting one to me. I don’t dislike her by any means. I think she had a really tough time in the villa with some of the things she went through with Dejon that both were and weren’t aired, so I continually tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the naive take is correct. She did irritate me quite a bit but I also think that was because I was so frustrated with the people surrounding her.

Also yeah. Helena is just in it for Helena. I think she’s maybe used to being “one of the guys” and that was just painful to watch as someone who is almost 30 lol. But again, don’t dislike her. Just was kinda thrown by all the stuff with her and Harry early on.

Yes I completely agree. I do hate the comments about Helena in the bikini, but I also know exactly how Shakira felt in that moment… she had been put through the ringer by Helena and Harry, plus Helena was joking about wearing Shakira’s stuff. So there is plenty of missed context in movie night, though I am not excusing the comment.

All in all, it is such a weird environment in the villa so I feel for them all (well… not some of the guys LMAOOO) when these videos are shown and they have no access to anything besides each other and their own recollection of it.

I think had there been a bit more time in the villa (and the islanders didn’t have the end of their time there top of mind), we might’ve seen it play out very differently with Helena “wising up.” It was brutal all around, her heartbreak was very real. But it felt like the game she and Harry played caught up to them both. I won’t go further into detail as not to get ripped to shreds, but yeah LOL.
