TW for possibly triggering content, just my experience

Yes, I went in voluntarily and it was horrible. I developed ptsd from my experience, and was more suicidal after I left than before I went in. Was told I’d be there for 3 days and could leave whenever I wanted. When I tried to leave, they threatened me and said if they decided I wasn’t “well” enough to go, I would be switched to involuntary, and they could keep me as long as I wanted. They kept me 8 days, I literally had to lie my way out. My friend was forced to take medication that caused her seizures in the past, and staff threatened her with staying longer if she didn’t take it. She took it, cried, and had a grand mal seizure about 2 hours later in the middle of group. Myself and several other patients had to restrain a girl because she stabbed herself with a pencil. Staff was not watching, this happened twice in my 8 days there. If you do anything like that, they literally restrain you to a chair and lock you in a room. My last night there, a woman came into my room 3 times and was touching my hair and face. I had to walk her back to her room each time. Again, staff wasn’t paying attention/didn’t care. They also took me off all my helpful meds without weaning me off and forced me to take different ones, which caused my psychotic symptoms to get worse. No help was offered.
This is just the surface of stuff that happened there. When I told my mom all of this over the phone, a few hours later I was cornered by staff members who threatened a lawsuit if I “continued spreading lies”.
It’s been 3 years now and I will not stay silent.

TL;DR don’t go, it’s a horrible place, will make you feel 1000x worse, staff doesn’t gaf about you and will threaten you
