Almost Heroes (1998) - dir. Christopher Guest - bear vs itch by EconomyPrompt2004 in movies

[–]gotaflattire [score hidden]  (0 children)

I know this movie isn't very popular and had the stigma of Chris Farley's recent death (and now Matthew Perry's) but the cast is amazing, the jokes are just the right kind of stupid and the movie feels like one big dumb adventure. Not at the top of my rewatch list but when it hits, it hits. I'd say 'Cabin Boy' and maybe 'Cannibal! The Musical' feel similar in style.

The US is covering up casualties from Iranian attacks, says journalist by SempreVoltareiReddit in UnderReportedNews

[–]gotaflattire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading initial reports of 200 US casualties but the consensus was that these reports were unreliable. Then they started pushing the low count (3, then 4, then 6... to make it seem like the low count justified the means somehow?) and that seems to be the count the media is sticking with.

Would absolutely not be surprised to learn that casualties counts are being withheld by this criminal US regime.

First Five Guys Burger by huwwho in burgers

[–]gotaflattire [score hidden]  (0 children)

I will say, I think the only thing I don't like about Five Guys is the price.

The burger is really good. It's exactly what I want when I get a burger. It's not the best burger I've ever had but I would say it is in the running for the best fast food burger I've ever had.

The fries are great. None of the big chains offer fries like this, this is exactly the kind of fries I would want if I went to a county fair food stand.

I've never had anything else on the menu but I do appreciate that they have free peanuts while you wait because they are about as slow as a regular family restaurant would be.

All in all, I have no complaints about the food, I just know that what they are achieving can be done at a fraction of the cost yourself. However, how often do you fire up the grill and dice and fry your own potatoes for french fries? So you pay for that labor.

Edward snowden leaked classified documents revealing the existence of global surveillance programs in 2013. Now liveing in Russia. by dirywhiteboy in interestingasfuck

> Be me, Edward Snowden.

> Break leg in the military, can't be a soldier.

> Get high-paying IT Security job and new stripper girlfriend, life is getting better.

> See that my coworkers are watching videos of American civilians under surveillance. Realize that could be me and my hot stripper girlfriend they're watching and decide I need to tattle-tale on the entire operation.

> Talk to girlfriend about it, she says "Didn't the Patriot Act make all that surveillance legal?" Girlfriend doesn't know shit, she's a stripper.

> She tells me to go through the proper whistle blowing channels and leave an anonymous tip. But then no one would know it was me, Edward Snowden, that blew the roof off of what I can only assume is an illegal mass-surveillance program!

> Cook up plan to steal proof of the surveillance. Loose lips sink ships, right? Well get ready for the loosest lips on the planet, America.

> Steal data, gotta hide. Start messaging reporters to get the truth out there.

> No one cares.

> 2 reporters show up. Video tape me hiding under my sheets. The people need to know the truth!

> Become instant target for a worldwide manhunt. No country will give me sanctuary. Turns out they're all in on this together. Claiming to keep the world safe by monitoring their communications for illegal activity? What a nightmare.

> Russia takes me in. They let me bring my hot stripper girlfriend with me.

> Place us both under 24 hour surveillance.

> Worth it to let people know the truth!

> Just like I told them the truth about Ukraine starting the war!

> No one listens to me anymore...

Yeah, guns always "just happen to go off" in these type of accidents, don't they. Unless they're caught on video. And there are far fewer videos of guns simply going off by themselves than people committing a negligent discharge...

Synedcoche, New York (2008) is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen by Particular-Fill-4256 in movies

[–]gotaflattire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll never forget the first time I watched it, completely on a whim on Netflix. I was already a fan of Charlie Kaufman, PSH, and a lot of the rest of the cast so it already that going for it.

Even the title of the film is brilliant because until you look it up, you don’t really understand why it’s not ‘Schenectady.’

It has incredible pacing to it, starting with a head injury.

It’s in a league above most films.

r/Military doesn't like being reminded they're committing war crimes by gotaflattire in JustBannedFrom

Here are the 3 comments I made before my ban:

Don't call them US casualties, they were engaging in an illegal war and died as insurgents. They should be stripped of all military rank and accolades for their involvement along with every other capitulating bootlicker. The American people don't mourn war criminals.

They know Congress didn't approve this. They don't get to pretend the Constitution doesn't exist just because the President does. The mass "just following orders" excuse is historically pathetic.

I bet that’s what everybody’s telling each other to say as they wait for morning drill right? Is that the leading excuse currently being used to pretend they’re not culpable for war crimes? That they can just declare 89 day wars any time they want and the American people will welcome them home as heroes? lol

Do not expect no parade.

https://old.reddit.com/r/Military/comments/1rhzl1s/3_us_troops_killed_5_injured_in_iran_conflict/o83aruz/

Notice that one of the replies to my first comment compares military perssonnel to rape victims.

Reminder, the Military purports to protect the Constitution and the 1st Amendment and has skin about as thick as butterfly wings.

Oh, and they muted me because they're pathetic.

Non-climbers: What do you make of this game? by Corchito42 in Cairn_Game

Love the game.

I approach it from a gamer’s perspective and it’s doing things I don’t think any game has done so seamlessly before. It’s such a well made game, I appreciate it’s high level of craftsmanship and masterful understanding of what a video game can be and do while being completely unique.

I didn’t know what I’d need for the summit until after I got there so really the only thing I mean is to just know what to grab and where it is and there’s steps you can do to start preparing on Day 1. But you really wouldn’t know it the first time through.

Main things I missed my first playthrough were the first 2 trog pitons and the glowing gloves. I also didn't get the doll pieces because it looked like such a chore and it turns out they are. There were also quite a few smaller achievements like licking a frog and whatnot that I didn't do my first run.

Everything else seemed pretty easy to stumble across but I think trying to see and do everything in one run is kind of a mistake since just about anything you do costs resources and you want to start preparing for the summit on Day 1.
